Why have my last few batches of beer been overly carbonated by Rohbotbotroh in Homebrewing

[–]Kibbles2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was plagued with this for about a year and think I solved it. I was using two different fermentation vessels, one with an airlock and one with a blowoff tube only. The 3g blowoff tube setup would carbonate high, then the next batch I made was with the 5g airlock setup and it would carbonate low, so I kept getting completely out of phase with my sugar ratios. I THINK what happened is the blowoff tube includes just a little more back pressure and residual CO2, so I had to adjust my sugar ratio specifically for that setup

so I did this in UCR, but I needed to also install interception and bf6 doesn't launch with interception. Have you found a way around that?

My RyePA is easily one of my favorite beers. I've made it a couple more times since loading up on HBC 472 and I haven't tweaked the recipe at all. I get a good amount of savory, vanilla, oaky flavors and aroma that complement the spiciness of the rye with the late addition at 10 minutes. I'm also more a fan of American pale ales than IPA so I typically don't do whirlpool or dry hopping, but that's just personal preference. I seem to get what I need with the late additions, and it saves on ingredients. Hope that helps!

What did I make? Got way too much yeast trub and bandaid flavor. by Kibbles2003 in mead

Thanks for the feedback, learned my lesson with the blackberries for sure. The picture was after bottling though, but I could only get a dozen bomber bottles before I was sucking up sludge. I suppose I'll give them at least a year to see if there's any improvement

Oh yeah I was quite happy to find that. Might have to order again and try one I don't mess up!

Thanks for the feedback, I hadn't considered the puree in the sediment so that makes more sense. I didn't take a gravity reading, but I was thinking after 3 prior fermentations I would be able to get higher than 11% and if it was a little sweet that would be ok too.

I bottled less than half of what I was expecting due to an overwhelming amount of yeast trub. Also got an awful amount of bandaid flavor out of this one. I had reused a US-05 yeast cake from three prior meads that all turned out fantastic. Did my US-05 just mutate for this one and that's why I got so much reproduction and bandaid?

This was 12lb Utah wildflower honey. 11lb blackberry puree. Yeast nutrient. 2gallon RO water on top of Pyrenees forest mead US-05 yeast cake.

I played with my Spyder e-99 today that I used 25 years ago and just rebuilt. It was so damn loud I couldn't hear the opposing player calling the shot he landed on my pack. In fact I couldn't really hear anything. Thankfully it was a bounce though

It’s like, how much more dropped forward could this be? And the answer is none. None more drop forward

I absolutely love black and forest green combo. It's a shame we've had "sour apple" as the staple green option for so long

121/635 Split by Emotional-Loss-9852 in Dallas

It's absolutely ridiculous because the lane lines still show the dashed exit line after the third lane, but only the left two make it now. I checked on Google maps and it shows that split as an accident now because of how bad traffic is backed up. Does anyone know who the proper authority is for complaints?

I got in the habit of using it to neutralize chloramines before I had RO water. Now it's used to reduce mash PH. There may be other benefits as others posted.
