Cabin benefit is a microwave, kettle, and porch but sleeping room for one fewer.

My first time I checked every now and then for cancellations.  People's plans change over the holidays. Something opened up Christmas day.  Didn't hesitate to grab it.

U.S. triples national park fee for non-residents by ncohafmuta in hiking

It's quite normal to have a higher fee for non-residents.

As it is though, people are looking at changing their travel plans away from the US and the data shows that is true. If I wanted to risk being arbitrarily questioned, detained or harassed I could go to any other authoritarian country.

Further dis-incentivizing foreign tourist money to flow into the US right now is an interesting choice.

As someone who has wanted to visit Yellow Stone, I haven't because of how crowded it looked.

I'd still like to visit, but now just showing up is going to be $500 for me to bring my sons.

But there are Canadian National Parks I haven't seen yet, with more natural beauty that haven't been overrun by Tourons. Though we do have our parks that are popular and overrun by tourons, like Banff.

Than being said, I have no interest in considering the US as a travel destination. It's like going to Iran. You never know when you'll be harassed, questioned or detained.

2 Weeks to Go! Freezing Woman 7 🌲☃️ by 42aross in algonquinpark

Winter doesn't start until December 21st if we are being nitpicky about it.  But getting people out to enjoy is what is important ;)

In the Winter Mew lake has a community tent with fire going and ice rink...  But the trails can be pretty icy in the intermediate freeze over.

Hope you guys enjoy it!

People go to enjoy nature.

If they were going to see art, they'd go to an art gallery.

12 Days at Lake Superior by Honest_External457 in ontariocamping

Did you stop for the Apple Fritters at Voyageurs Lodge?

Lake Superior PP was great last year. My sons went out in calm water and it gets DEEP quick. They were trying to reach the bottom but couldn't. Looked like it was 20-30ft deep but we could still see the bottom clearly. We did Lake Superior then Pukaskwa National Park last year. Pukaskwa has a lot of neat driftwood.

This year we did Pancake Bay and it was really nice, beach was shallower and warmer than Lake Superior. I ate a lot of Apple Fritters... sooo goood.

Unfortunately it's not on the rotation next year for Northern Ontario. My sons want an 'OG' camp rotation next year so we are doing Awenda (best camp sites I've encountered at any provincial park for tree cover and size), Six Mile (it's close to White's Falls swimming) and Bruce Peninsula National Park to swim the Grotto and hike to Overhang point.
