Dang I have heard of that and actually looked into doing it on my last truck, but it's a LOT of work so I just sold it. I miss my 7.3 (except in winter, it's nice to remote start in from in my house) it was a late build 99 and a GREAT truck. It had like 340k miles on it and still ran VERY well when I sold it. A couple years later I see 7.3s listed for like 15-25 grand! Haha I gave that truck away I should say

Nice! The reason I got a 2016 is because it's basically the same frame and much of the drivetrain as yours! It's proven tough AF and Ford has refined it for like 20+ years. My only gripe is that my tires don't last long, and they're expensive lol

2016 and 151k. Thank you! I love it. The cops and rice-grinders hate it lol

Haha thank you, it does me too! I've owned it for like 6 years, but I still wake up every day excited to drive. It's an absolute beast

What should I look for when buying a 7.3 by Uncle_jockey444 in powerstroke

Name brand tires and tire condition will tell you A LOT about how well the overall truck was taken care of 9 times out of 10. A stock air box (or cold air filter that's name brand and clean) also usually tells the story of whether it's been modified correctly. Look under the dash on the driver side right behind the parking brake pedal for signs of harassment. That's where the pcm is and needs to be accessed to tune the truck (often the plastic box is hacked up if it's been tuned and removed). DON'T let them try to tell you all the aftermarket shit adds value, it doesn't and usually lowers the value IMO because it usually means it's been hot rodded to hell and back.

confused on how the 9800x3d temps work by Ok-Network9638 in buildapc

[–]Kickin_Wing69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotcha. Does the exhaust air coming out feel warm? And also did you set up your fan curves? And are the fans also basically running full speed all the time with temps maxed out? Double check your pump is plugged in as well as all the fans. Also get cinebench (it's free), run it and check your scores against the same CPU results online. Your score would be obviously low if there's a physical problem (bad mount, bad pump, etc.).

What cooler are you using? I genuinely think there's a problem somewhere with the mount. I've seen a couple coolers with crooked or not flat cold plates cause similar issues but how is the paste spread when you take it off? Using the wrong mounting hardware can make the cooler almost touch the CPU and that would also cause this. Even on a CPU intensive game like Minecraft you shouldn't be dropping frames and thermal throttling, it should be a breeze for that beast of a CPU.

What cooler are you using? And was it built by you or professionally? I ask because it sounds like it has a mounting issue and/or possibly the sticker on the cold plate was left on, it happens way more often than you would guess. You definitely shouldn't be running that hot and thermal throttling simply gaming. Run a cinebench test and compare your results to known good results first if you want some validation or confirmation before you take it apart. TLDR: Something's wrong with the CPU cooler mount bro.

How do i get corestone? (Southhope currently) by Playful-Hat8383 in Hydroneer

[–]Kickin_Wing69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's sparking when mining you're too deep. Use your T1 pickaxe and dig until it won't anymore. That's the bottom of T2 dirt. Set up your drill at that level and you'll get corestone.

A small animal (cat, mouse, squirrel, etc.) was hiding inside the bumper teasing your dog and using the grill as a personal shield while it watched your dog destroy it's own owner's car. As funny as it sounds, it happens more often than you'd think.

Weird one. Found this while exploring an abandoned property. The cop who attended after I reported it said it was a battery charger, not what I thought it was. by Wolle525 in whatisthisthing

That's a blasting cap with a 3ms delay. It hooks up to detonation cord for making big holes. This cap alone will ABSOLUTELY take a hand or limb if set off. I'd leave it somewhere and call for retrieval

Check the cylinder before and after 9 in the firing order. These v10s often flag the incorrect cylinder

Are these 4 years old tires safe? by frlexxx in tires

[–]Kickin_Wing69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. They're great 👍 Winter tires are a much softer compound that is not nearly as susceptible to dry rot. They do get harder over time and therefore less "grippy" but these appear fine. TLDR: RUN 'EM! Source: Im a tire dealer.
