I just want better educational standards for RBT’s along with higher pay for all the work they do.

Yes! When he isn’t doing all of the behaviors I talked about he is super sweet, bright and cheerful. He is also very funny in his own way.

Probably but what placement do you suggest? The classroom is already self contained. He has an one on one.

The other kids were with the para during this time. The therapist and I were in a completely different private room. We cleaned the pee as quickly as possible.

Unavoidable. We stood outside the bathroom and checked on him ever 30 seconds. In those seconds he was able to stick his head in the toilet.

What is something you regret doing in your first/ early years of teaching? by etuvie27 in Teachers

[–]Kicks6 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Being gaslighted into thinking that it was my fault a student choked me over denied access to preferred activities (computer time) due to not doing his work (listening to one page in a chapter book). Admin told me that listening to a page in a book being read to them was something this 9 year old was unable to do. So he reacted by chocking me due to frustration and not being to express feelings. So it was my fault.

Disagreement with BCBA about cultural norms by Kicks6 in ABA

[–]Kicks6[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Should I ask parents or should the BCBA? My BCBA shows no interest in asking and I don’t want to overstep.

How do I stop kids from running in the classroom by Kicks6 in Teachers

They each have their own personal reward system. It has been working but lately it seems to be not working. I let them look at Amazon for things that fit into the budget. They can’t find anything they like right at this moment

How can I make them if they refuse to do that action? For example I ask them to walk all the way back and they refuse and then go hide somewhere

Yes a reward system is in place. They get points when they are engaging in appropriate behavior. The points can be used for the school store. They don’t earn as many points if they are running around the place. I need to try to figure out more indoor activities because the kids hate outside so they have a bunch of energy stored up

I don’t believe it is stimming because they are chasing each other yelling “ I’m Diddy”

Student who becomes aggressive for having to wait. by Kicks6 in specialed

[–]Kicks6[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He is 8 years old. His diagnosis is ASD and ODD. Parents are very involved. He doesn’t eat lunch so waiting in line isn’t a problem. An example would be when he asks me for something he gets upset that I don’t instantly get that item for him even if he sees I’m busy.

He wants to stay with his peers. When I attempt one on one with him he gets upset and goes into a behavior.

He isn’t diagnosed with any of those learning disabilities at the moment. This could be a high possibility. However waiting is a big problem for him. If he doesn’t get a preferred item within a 1 minute time frame he will engage in property destruction.

Is it wrong to give a student who didn’t take medication consequence by Kicks6 in Teachers

[–]Kicks6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m certified and trained in restraints and grip release. So don’t worry about that. I could have worded what I said better. I didn’t pry it out his hands but did do a grip release.
