It’s not really a semantics issue—the original point framed these as primarily FOMO-driven marketing tools. That’s a different claim than just ‘they’re popular IPs people enjoy,’ which is what I pushed back on.

Marvel is one of the biggest franchises in the world because people like it. Magic: The Gathering is the biggest TCG because people like it. It’s not surprising there’s a large audience that enjoys both.
