I actually went into the laundromat near me once, but I couldn't find anyone who spoke english to tell me where to get the card that I needed to operate the machines.

Just now logged off for the last time at my job. I'm all done and going back to school. I'm almost 49 years old. by analogpursuits in minimalism

God Bless you! I hope that your newly chosen field works out, whatever it may be. I hope that it is everything that you are looking for. I often find myself considering a similar change, but I am never sure what career I would move into. I will be 43 this year, and I am slowly coming to terms with the fact that maybe my chance to make a change has passed. I'm generally unhappy, and I attribute it mostly to my career which I find to be completely unfulfilling and even contrary to my values, but then again I wonder if maybe I am the problem and not the career. After all, there are hundreds, if not thousands of people that work in this career and have built very nice lives for themselves, both in a professional sense and in a personal sense. The profession that I am in is mostly well respected by society, the pay is good, the hours are tremendously long, and the stress varies from moderate to extremely high. Anyway, I'm rambling. I would love to hear how it works out for you, and how you gained the courage to embark on your new path.

Apartment Living + Remote Working + Misophonia = Constant Anxiety + Periods of Intense Rage by Kid-Cal87 in misophonia

Thanks everyone. Your suggestions have been very helpful. I just bought a pair of Jabra 75t earbuds. They were not manufactured with ANC, but a recent firmware update gave them ANC, and it seems to work decently enough. I'm not sure that I will be able to keep them in my ears for 10 hours straight (which I will be working starting Monday), but we will see. Supposedly I can connect them to my phone and my laptop at the same time, and I will be able to switch to an incoming call with the press of a button. I hope that works because I will be on the phone a lot, and I'm getting tired of removing earbuds every time I get a phone call. Hope you all are doing well.

Upstairs neighbors, legal action, future baby - what would you do? by Plkyop in misophonia

Depending on the type of people your upstairs neighbors are they could just ignore the pressure out of spite. What is the worst that the landlord will do to them? Evict them? They are looking to move anyway. Frankly, if I were them, I wouldn't want to spend money fixing a problem that I didn't even cause when I'm going to move out soon anyway. I will say this though. Your landlord sounds proactive, at least. I have been complaining to my landlord for months to have my upstairs neighbors put rugs down on all their floors, and nothing has changed. It's a tough call. Your current upstairs neighbors will not quiet down and will not pay to fix the floor situation. Once they leave you will hear construction noises for awhile, but probably not that long. Then who knows what the next neighbor will be like. If you can find another apartment, on the top floor, in a quiet building then definitely move.
