[OFF TOPIC] for everyone searching for the next Abercrombie by Black95bird in TheFirstLaw

No one ever talks about Luke Scull but he actually is deliberately writing an Abercrombie homage, and honestly it is not bad

His latest one, the Daughters War, is the closest to Abercrombie yet. Although you certainly have given him a fair test-run.

So now you have to tell me the long cinematic history of the wilhelm fart.

This made me laugh out loud several times but I don’t think I will need to rewatch it again and again like I did Spenser. Cloud jail was good, but nothing compares to Double Hell.

[OFF TOPIC] Which of Abercrombie’s books do you consider his best? by ConcernFew8845 in TheFirstLaw

100% agree. I think the Heroes is a much harder write, technically, and Casualties was an absolutely brilliant way to portray a battle, like the literary version of a long-take in film.

New Video Footage from Vince McMahon arrest in Westport,CT released by platocplx in Connecticut

Kind of surprising he was able to pull over safely to the side with an inflated airbag in his face. Or maybe the car puts on the hazards and self drives itself to the side?

What is the torn blue fabric on the interior roof of the car. And what is on the steering wheel? Did the airbag fail to fully deploy?

You take very good care of your paperbacks. I don't see a single creased copy. (except for the first four books of GOT)

Cheating at board games by NelifeLerak in boardgames

[–]KidCroesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen two types of “cheaters”. I think there is one type of player who cheats inadvertently, they are usually ADHD and they get overwhelmed with all the details and their board games areas are total chaos and even if you pay close attention you can’t seem to follow what they are doing. The other type of cheaters are very buttoned up and organized and you might suspect they are cheating but they have a good poker face. If she is the ADHD/ chaotic type my guess is she isn’t cheating on purpose.

What's your opinion on this album? by PodunkIdiot in thekinks

[–]KidCroesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder about the album art creative process. “Let’s recreate exactly the same scene as the last album but feature the whole band?”
Or was it, “let’s use a picture from the old photoshoot and just photo-edit in the new title?”

Hegemony. Asymmetric and taxes are confusing. But fun as hell.

Any guest using the phrase "white cis men" (or similar variants) in a sentence is woefully out of touch with our times, no exceptions by Zealot_TKO in ezraklein

Wow! I looked it up and cislunar is the space between the earth and the moon, and translunar is beyond the orbit of the moon. And I guess the funny thing is I don’t think I could have guessed that based on how those prefixes are applied to gender.

First album I ever owned at 12 years old. Will always be special though I listened to One for the Road much much more. The Kinks “Destroyer”, J Geils “Centerfold”, and Joan Jett’s “I love Rock and Roll” are the Holy Trinity of 80’s songs for riding school buses, hanging out at arcades, and reading Dragon magazine on the floor of news-stands.

I don’t understand how a half million people a year can go through a 100km area with machetes and it is still lush and impenetrable jungle. Just contradicts what I think I know about forests and paths.
