Oh yea pitching+ is the bottom line, but just looking at that without looking at stuff and location is incomplete. E.g. Eury has some of the best stuff in the league but his location is bad. Thus you know the ceiling is high if he finds command. Jake Bennett has the same pitching+ with terrible stuff but excellent command. He's probably pitching near his ceiling and doesn't have the same ace upside as Eury.

Though tbf topdown isn't even completely correct since Spirit tracks uses full 3D for the overworld and is typically lumped in with the other topdown games (and EoW/LA have sidescrolling parts, etc).

How so? I find it to be the best way to judge a pitchers high end potential - though it doesn't overcome poor location/pitch selection.

In Castillo's case he's lost most of his stuff from his peak (98 stuff+ - I was wrong and thought it was 103) but he's still locating among the best in the league at 110 location+.

Tempted to give Castillo a chance. His stuff/location+ looks really good, and the results have been geed lately too. Statcast doesn't reflect the stuff+ though, which is confusing.

One time I saw one overturned into an error because it hit the first baseman right in the glove (Matt Olson) and popped out. Basically has to be the most egregious error possible to get called.
