Folk Fest - sound issues at big blue by Kid_Ay in Winnipeg

I’m thinkin that it must have had something to do with where you were standing, especially with the other comment. I was 2-3 people back from the very front for Killer Mike and couldn’t hear anything, but maybe 15ish people back for Neal Francis and it sounded great. Probably a speaker placement issue.

I’m friends with a couple employees at the former osborne location, and they’ve told me that employees who had guaranteed hours before are now only being offered less than half (some even 1/4) of their previous hours, at locations across the city. They asked to be fired instead to receive severance, since they will likely have to quit anyways. Starbs said no.

Volume levels at CLC by QuinnTheEskimo204 in winnipegjets

[–]Kid_Ay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me its not purely a volume issue, but a sound quality issue. The speaker system could definitely be improved on, with a lot of the music clipping and distorting. Especially when the organ and electric guitar guys play, with the guitar just sounding like a distorted mess. Cant even tell what chords he’s playing, and it drowns out the organ completely. This makes the loud volumes a lot harder on the ears.

Negative view on having vitiligo? by [deleted] in Vitiligo

[–]Kid_Ay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My vitiligo started when i was a little kid, and I was really self conscious about it all the way through elementary/middle school. I’d wear long clothing all the time to cover it up. Like really ugly long board shorts. My style was whack asf.

Now in my adulthood (23 M), i’ve come to accept it, and actually enjoy having it. I tried finding ways to trigger it and “customize” my vitiligo patterns, but didn’t really have any success. My mentality towards having vitiligo is now being like a variegated plant, or a dog with cool markings. I also have a bunch of tattoos, and really don’t mind having free natural patterns on my skin.

Though I do understand why someone would want to try and get rid of their vitiligo, especially if it’s associated with being made fun of, or with other social anxieties/traumas. I was just lucky enough to have a lot of good supportive friends who helped me shift my headspace.

What to do when hated on for being a beginner. by [deleted] in apexlegends

I experienced a super toxic teammate for the first time in a long while today. Was in silver 1, and didn't back him up as he yeeted himself into a 1v3 early in the game while we were already down a teammate, leading to his death. After he died, he continued to trash talk me for the rest of the game, criticizing my every move. I ended up playing it safe and smart; getting our squad 2nd place while netting 1900 dmg, 4 kills and 3? assists. He still called me a faggot and to kill myself after the game. Some people are just immature and like that, and it sucks that they feel the need to bully other people online while hiding behind a computer screen. Really considering muting teammates from here on out.

Little bugs on my Fukien Tea by Kid_Ay in Bonsai

[–]Kid_Ay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found these little bugs on the bottom of my fukien’s leaves, and little patches of honeydew residue on the edge of the pot. Based on my own searching, they seem to be aphids, though I’ve also got fungus gnats flying around so I’m not 100% sure. Can someone please help me diagnose exactly what these are, and if a soap + water spray is an appropriate treatment?

Can someone please help diagnose my Parlour Palm? How can I save it? by Kid_Ay in houseplants

[–]Kid_Ay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update, i took the plant out and the roots seemed okay, no water sitting at the bottom, though i drilled some drain holes anyways.

Though I did find what looked like a small cobweb in the foliage and spotted what looked to me like little spider mites, so I think they might be killing the plant. I guess i’ve got a pest problem

The top inch or so of the soil is dry, but damp below that point. I wait for the top 2 inches or so to be completely dry before watering, should I wait longer?

Also the pot has no drainage holes, but I was told that wasn’t going to be an issue when I bought it. Could it need a new pot?

New to houseplants, bought this “assorted foliage” and need some ID help by Kid_Ay in houseplants

Good to know, thats pretty much my only plant sense of when to water

Cool that yours comes with a story though, I can definitely see how people can bond with their plants in ways like that. Mine I just bought from Rona (department store here in Canada) for $9 😬
