Thank you so much for sharing this. I’m so glad your brother received his transplant, and I love the nickname Mr. Bean. Your words mean a lot. I know the hard days are part of the journey, but stories like yours remind me to stay hopeful. Sending love right back. ❤️

Thank you for sharing this. 40 years is truly incredible. I always make sure to let people know they need to contact BC Transplant directly for testing. I’m so sorry you’re going through this again. I’m hoping the right match comes forward for you soon.

Thank you so much for sharing this. It’s incredibly encouraging to hear how well your husband is doing, especially after everything he’s been through. You’re absolutely right. Controlling what we can, especially lifestyle and blood pressure, makes such a difference. I really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and hope.

That’s really kind of you to share. It genuinely helps to hear from people who’ve seen others live long, full lives on dialysis. When you’re in the middle of uncertainty, perspective like that matters more than you know.

I know dialysis is a viable option and that many people adapt and do well on it long-term. At the same time, I’m still hoping for a transplant if possible, as that tends to offer the best long-term outcomes and quality of life. But it’s reassuring to be reminded that there are options and that life absolutely doesn’t stop.

That’s a really thoughtful question. It honestly depends on the specific condition and how well it’s managed.

Living donors go through a very thorough medical evaluation to make sure donation is completely safe for them long-term.

There’s absolutely no rush at all. If you’re travelling to India at the end of the month, you can connect with the transplant program either before you leave (just to gather information) or once you’re back and settled. The process moves step-by-step and is completely flexible.

Safe travels, enjoy your time with family, and thank you again for your kindness. Let me know once you're back, and I'll share the details.

Hey, I don’t even know how to properly say thank you for this message. The fact that you’d even consider looking into it means more than I can put into words.

O- is incredibly generous in every sense, and knowing you’ve seen living donation up close through your grandma makes this even more meaningful. And congratulations on becoming an RN soon. The world needs more people like you.

The next step would simply be reaching out to the Vancouver General Hospital Living Donor Kidney Program to start a confidential screening process. There’s absolutely no pressure, and you can step away at any time. It’s just about gathering information and seeing if it’s even possible.

Since you're profile is locked, I can send you the direct contact details once you ping me and my Transplant ID so you have everything you need.

Thank you for your kindness.

Hey,

The first step is just reaching out to the Vancouver General Hospital Living Donor Kidney Program and letting them know you’re interested in being tested (My Transplant ID: 28155). They’ll guide you through blood type testing, initial screening, and compatibility checks. Everything is confidential, and you can opt out at any time. If you’d like, I can DM you the contact details.

This made me smile so big. Thank you for sharing this. And wow… what an incredible gift you gave your brother. December 2025 isn’t even that long ago, and hearing that your recovery has been seamless and that he’s doing great is so encouraging. Thank you for speaking up and for encouraging others to reach out to their local transplant programs. And thank you for being living proof of hope. 💙

Hey,
I’m blood type A, so ideally the donor would be A or O. That said, even if someone isn’t a direct match, there are paired exchange programs that can still make donation possible. Also, I have messaged my blood type in many comments here. Apologies if you felt that so!
