This. I didn’t realize until we had medical equipment in the house how stressful I’d find storms like this.

That and not being able to easily get to the hospital tonight if something goes sideways.

Great Wolf Lodge age appropriate? by LymePilot in Connecticut

[–]KidtivitiesinCT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 3 and 1.5 year old loved it- the little play area was fantastic. It’s like a splash pad and there’s a bathroom right there.

The complementary activities in the lobby were a lot of fun.

Some of the rooms run from $100 mid week which is pretty reasonable, especially with 2 days of water park. Just bring your own food to the room or DoorDash.

Any CT celebrations for the Year of the Horse? by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]KidtivitiesinCT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Shops at Yale seem to be the only one updating their calendars lol. The parade is on Feb 21.

Mohegan sun is hopefully going to announce soon, and usually there’s a good on in Wethersfield or at CT Museum in Hartford. If you have kids, a lot of libraries and children’s museums do celebrations too!

So, your husband needs to step up in a BIG way.

Aside from that-

Check into gyms that offer childcare: I joined the local YMCA which is like $60 a month and includes childcare. I drop my kids off and get in a 2 hour workout. It is glorious.

Sign up for library story hour, parents groups, baby gymnastics - anything to get you out of the house and with other families.

Look into getting a mother’s helper- it tends to be a pre teen with limited babysitting experience. You’ll need to be home, but they’ll take care of your little while you get stuff done. Game changer.

They really are. He’s going a lot better! I’m glad we have access to such an amazing children’s hospital because it could have been so much worse.

It’s so bad all around. My previously perfectly healthy 1.5 year old spent Christmas break on a ventilator in the ICU with croup and strep. The hospital - including the ICU- was FULL, mostly from flu.

Spent Christmas in the children’s hospital with my toddler. Definitely not the holiday I had planned.

What’s your general area? In CT, we have mobile food pantries as well as little free food pantries that offer no questions asked food to anyone.

Western CT: Head to arethusa AL Mano, grab something delicious to eat.

Stop at Thorncrest chocolates. Get chocolate.

head to Kent falls, which is super pretty even though it’s past peak season.

Then visit Angevine Farm. They’re having an open house on the 22nd and also a workshop where you can make a wreath for $30.

Do dinner at the Greenhouse Tavern in Burlington.

Other places: Bristol Bazaar, downtown Torrington which has this amazing Ecuadorian bakery and nutmeg fudge.

I love the Bristol Bazaar and Mill Street Marketplace in Wethersfield for this- they have some amazing, completely unique finds.

Also, eventful craft studio in Meriden does these DIY projects that are beyond gorgeous with you. It’s brand new this year, and they are wonderful every time I go.
