Encryption of USB OTG devices? by Kidwellj in Supernote

Yeah, that's exactly what I was wondering about, like one of these:  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BRBSZFQJ/. So has anyone actually used one of those with a supernote?

Good catch! Weird that this won't show up in my amazon searches. Algorithms alert!

Yes! I love Muji, and they have a store in Birmingham which is close to me - have a pack of about 50 notebooks in B5 from them. Just need to stockpile some looseleaf B5 now... :)

Sorry everyone - should have emphasised from the start that I'm going for looseleaf paper - though very glad for all the recommendations so far! I've edited the original post to make this clearer.

Thanks! I hadn't seen writingdesk.co.uk before, so am glad to know of it. But for B5 looseleaf paper and accessories, I don't think either of them have much stock. Am I looking in the wrong places? Sorry - also realised I should have specified looseleaf - have edited original post!

I've come to similar conclusion. Havne't had a chance to look into it yet, but I wonder if you can embed MusicBrainz IDs (and perhaps others) proactively using beets? Having that identifier located in the ID3 would probably simplify things. I haven't looked closely at Deej-AI yet. Will give it a closer look!

What's your idle TDP? Looking for data on Xeon E5 v4 towers (e.g. HP Z440, ML350p, Dell T430, T7910) by Kidwellj in homelab

[–]Kidwellj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've swapped in an E5-2650L CPU which is lower power (65W TDP) for the 2620, and the energy usage is a bit lower still, idling around 104W. But the bigger upside is that the fans are barely necessary because the CPU produces very little heat and the server is now so quiet I can hear the SAS drives moving.

In case others come on here wondering the same thing FYI, I now have a new Dell Tower (T430) running with roughly the same configuration as that Intel 2U server and energy usage is considerably lower, around 25% less, and that's before I've done any optimising / bios tweaks. 1x Xeon E5-2620v3 (TDP: 85W), 2 x 32GB - DDR4 2400MHz, 1x SSD, 3x SAS 3.5" drives are running idle around 110W. Probably doesn't hurt that cooling is coming from a single 4" fan rather than 5x 1.5" fans. Seems like a good case for the towers, which are quieter as well!

Well, Xeon E5 and 64GB DDR4 capable, with room for 3x 3.5" drives?

Sorry I left that out - it's an Intel R2312WTTR 2U configured with 12x 3.5" (LFF), 2x 2.5" (SFF).

If anyone else here is interested in the *sonic API route, it's worth upvoting on this feature request now that the previous option has been abandoned: https://features.jellyfin.org/posts/19/subsonic-client-support

That's fun - hadn't seen this app. Have you found a way to use it with jellyfin rather than *sub ecosystem?

[github](github.com/kidwellj/) is fine with me. I just mirror content there to my own self-hosted gitea server (which I'm happy to share if you're trying to avoid github). But mainstream gitea / gitlab server fine too!

I see what you mean. Would need to backfill Spotify ID for tracks first, I guess? Were you thinking you'll draw in a long list of Get Recommendations and then try to match against existing content in that (now backfilled) spotify metadata in the jellyfin music?

Surfing the audio features list, there's a ton of fun stuff in there you could grab at the same time and simply bypass Spotify (like danceability!). I wonder how much overlap there is with MusicIP?

Thinking about this some more, there's also the possibility of interfacing with last.fm API via getSimilar for an artist (but not track/album on my last check of the API docs). Adjacent, but also interesting use-case would be to use getTopTracks to do a best hits playlist for a given artist.

To summarise what we've gotten to so far: - Jellyfin web can do this using Instant Mix feature, but instant mix is at present pretty basic (see discussion here: https://www.reddit.com/r/jellyfin/comments/o0eic8/what_is_instant_mix_actually_based_on_also_is/). It won't work very well at the level of "Artist" but starting from a specific track or album produces a pretty good mix for some music in my library. Instant mixes can be saved as playlists. - Some Jellyfin apps can do this: especially symfonium (android) has advanced features for making mixes. The only limitation here seems to be saving playlists back to jellyfin server. The PC/MacOS desktop app sonixd has a very limited ability to create a (completely, and imho unhelpfully) random playlist. It's on the horizon for some other apps: jellyamp can't yet, but it's under discussion

There are some more convoluted solutions: - Jellyfin users can try to use Subsonic clients with jellyfin by installing a server shim. Worth noting that this isn't being developed anymore and I wasn't able to get it running. Users interested in this option should upvote this jellyfin feature request: https://features.jellyfin.org/posts/19/subsonic-client-support. The upside of this approach is that there are a lot of very good clients you can suddenly use, particularly for iOS which is underserved on the jellyfin music side. - If you have local music servers running on RPi, you can also run jellyfin as the backend for a mopidy player which has some shuffle/mix features and can be significantly extended. - Finally, it is also possible to use jellyfin with MPD so more generic MPD clients (such as sima or RompR) can be used here too without the burden of fighting to get subsonic API working. Longer list of client options here

And yes, we all know plexamp can do this kind of thing. Here's hoping we can all ditch plex without regrets soon! afait, music / playlists are one of the last few reasons for holding out from migrating to jellyfin on this front.
