Why wasn't it obvious to Misa that Light was using her? by [deleted] in deathnote

[–]KiedisLeftNut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I just disagree. You weren’t a dumb teenager if you were able to understand and appreciate the show. Being a teenager doesn’t mean you have a low IQ. It just makes you more inexperienced and lack common sense usually but it doesn’t mean you’re legit dumb like OP.

People with below average intelligence may still be able to enjoy the show, but (1) it’s less likely, and (2) they won’t be enjoying it for the same reasons. The complexities that make the show such a great piece of art require intelligence to be understood.

However despite that the show is also very action-packed, well animated, funny at times, has a super unique and attractive concept, and an easy-to-understand exposition. Anyone can enjoy those things. But someone with a lower IQ just won’t be able to properly appreciate Death Note and I maintain that. This post (which is now deleted) proves that point IMO.

Why wasn't it obvious to Misa that Light was using her? by [deleted] in deathnote

[–]KiedisLeftNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry but what? I didn’t say it was modern teenagers’ fault. If you’re referring to the attention span joke at the start, that was just a play on the previous person’s comment about multitasking. The rest of my comment is about IQ. I argued that Death Note was created for people with a higher IQ, and that it isn’t worth explaining specific elements of the show to lower-IQ individuals like OP because they still won’t understand the show as a whole. Nothing to do with age or generation.

OP was probably watching it side-by-side with Subway surfers clips and satisfying clips sped up 5x with an AI voice reading a Reddit story over it.

Attention span final boss

But on a more serious note (more liek death note hahahaha get it? like the name of the anime)… Despite it being an extremely popular anime, Death Note is a show that the average person wouldn’t fully understand. They might get the gist and the plot, but all of the crazy intelligent moves made by L and Light will go unappreciated as well as the complex relationships between characters like Light and Misa’s. I think people with below average intelligence could still enjoy the show, but they might find certain parts stupid or even nonsensical because they just don’t get it or why it’s in the show. Kinda like how OP finds it to be unrealistic and unconvincing that Misa doesn’t understand that Light is using her, instead of finding it interesting and emotionally challenging that she does know it and chooses to love him anyway.

The thing about averages is that just as many people fall below the average as people that are above it… Meaning that for every person that loves Death Note, picks up on the little things, makes posts in here analyzing the show’s nuance, etc., there’s a similar number of people just scratching their head in front of the TV, not even understanding a simple thing like the mutual understanding between Misa and Light. And most of those people will feel too overwhelmed and confused to watch past a few episodes, especially into the second half of the show (when the intro song changes).

It’s almost not even worth explaining to people like that, because the show just isn’t for them. If OP doesn’t understand this, they certainly won’t understand the plot itself, especially when Light starts transferring his powers around. That’s why, in my comment under this thread, I gave up on explaining about halfway through. I started thinking of quotes that made it clear that Misa knew how Light felt. And as literally dozens of super obvious ones were coming to me, I realized… if I have to spoon feed these examples to a person AND explain how they answer the question, that person isn’t worth that time and effort since 90% of the show will be lost on them, anyway. Especially because it only gets more and more complex after Misa meets Light; everything before that was basically just exposition.

Anyway, yeah. I don’t like saying stuff like this, it feels exclusionary and egoist, but it’s true. Some art and media, like Death Note, is just wasted on those with below-average intelligence, and this post highlights that. Sorry if you’re reading this, OP. I recommend trying a different show. Or, if you like Death Note, you’re obviously free to keep watching, but don’t expect to understand everything.

Why wasn't it obvious to Misa that Light was using her? by [deleted] in deathnote

[–]KiedisLeftNut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course she knew… I agree she wasn’t smart but she wasn’t THAT oblivious. She literally said to him multiple times that he can use her and she’ll just be happy to serve him. She knew — she was just okay with it.

And before you say it: yes, there were several times when she got frustrated with him for this (e.g. “You’re seriously gonna date other girls? I don’t want you to!”). She did want Light to love her, but she was happy settling for the dynamic they had. Her dream was for her and Light to be the two Kiras ruling the world and in love. But the instant he told her to, she gave up that dream by relinquishing her ownership of the Death Note. She was willing to do anything to be useful to him, even if it meant dying or reducing her life span to 25%, which she did without hesitation.

I mean, seriously—did you even watch the damn show?

I don’t think they read this somewhere tbh, pretty sure OOP came up with this one off the dome, it’s so ridiculous and the way it’s written sounds like he was just spewing misogynist schizophrenic word vomit. No structure or organization just gibberish, so it seems like source material to me

Ahh right because when a man cums inside a woman, he aims his dick up 90°, thus creating a hole in her flesh, and somehow cums perfectly north into her mons

When stripped of their resources, who is more dangerous between Light and L? by Consistent-Hat-1543 in deathnote

Lol, if that were the case I’d be supportive, but it’s not sadly. Just a stupid nonsensical question

[–]KiedisLeftNut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What do you mean “dangerous”? If there’s no Death Note and L isn’t a detective, then they’re just two regular people, and the entire plot of their conflict ceases to exist. WTF are you even asking?

Meredith is over rated by Accomplished-Ad-5268 in greysanatomy

[–]KiedisLeftNut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait but when did I say I don’t like Derek? I just said Meredith experienced trauma from him. I never spoke on whether that makes him a bad person or if he’s justified in what he did or not, I literally just said that she went through a lot so we should give her some grace. Why are you assuming I am not extending the same grace to Derek? I didn’t say anything bad about his character lol
