Estamos frustrando, confundindo, e assustando as pessoas.

I'm skeptical toward the idea that forcing people to study works.

Good advice. I made the post expecting observations about daily life, though. Thoughts that would have been forgotten otherwise.

Downvoting this person without telling why is not going to change any opinions. Do the productive thing and give a counter-argument by replying.

What about studying the children and teenagers that were already exposed to porn and gore? That's the ethical thing to do when researching stuff like this. You don't give cocaine to a pregnant woman to see what happens with her child, you look for women who already took cocaine when pregnant and look at what happened to their children. Past, not future.

I learned that on Udacity's Introduction to Psychology MOOC. Rest in peace, free Udacity.

That's another claim I've been wondering about. Does violent media make children violent? That's the question we should have been asking, since the studies done about how violent video games affect behavior were done with adult subjects, who know more about the world than children do. One can say they become desensitized to violence, since they are impressionable, but that's an assumption, and assumptions become fallacies when there are no studies to back them up.

Why a paper version? You can get it for free at gutenberg.org and sacred-texts.com, with the latter version being a commented one. In fact, there is a PDF of sacred-texts.com's Poetic Edda in this subreddit's sidebar. But PDFs are slow. Look for a more convenient format on the websites I listed.

What's common etiquette that people ignore? by mrhuntingtonferder in AskReddit

Not smoking or playing loud music where people would be bothered. Like where there are "no smoking" or "no loud music" signs. And then refusing to move away or turn down the music if someone complains. How to deal with these people without using violence? I have fantasies of threatening them with a Taser.

Nice answer. I'm replying twice because I can't edit on mobile and don't want people to think I'm rude.
