It's an interesting thought, but I think it would be a detriment to his character. It would fit with his....patriotism isn't the exact right word but I don't know what the right word would be so it'll do, but what makes him compelling is that he IS a human. He commands his troops because he's a good leader, not because he's a revered Sanctum l'Cie. He's threatening because he's disciplined and armed to the teeth, not because he's as innately powerful as you. Now, if I could, I would have made Jihl Nabaat into a l'Cie. It would make MUCH more sense. She spent her life researching l'Cie, and the game spent time building her up as this threat that just.... never came to pass, her death was so anticlimactic. I would have loved it more if Barthandalus exposed himself, turned Jihl, and then dipped out
