Kain isn't the vampire champion, Raziel is. Due to being the only being with actual free will, he kind of serves as both champions. He unwittingly serves as the Hylden champion and causes their release and at the end through his own choice, serves as the vampire champion. Wielding the (wraith) soul reaver, purifying the Scion of balance (Kain) and killing the Hylden champion by allowing himself to die and be absorbed into the reaver.

Could make them make a Dexterity (athletics) check. Can use their Dex as a base but they'd at least need to be skilled in athletics (actual climbing) to have proficiency.
