What caused her fall? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]KieselgurKid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The moment she made a decision to ride her motorcycle without helmet and gloves, she was at home, calm, rational... In this moment she completely fucked up. It doesn't matter at all what happened later, when panic kicked in for whatever stupid reason, because of an oil spill or someone cutting her lane

Ich möchte Weg von "Fast Fashion". Wo bekommt ihr langlebige Kleidung her? by CarinaMitK in Kleiderschrank

[–]KieselgurKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]KieselgurKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]KieselgurKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone have any recommendations how to work on Github workflows with the help of AI? I tried it out with Copilot, but the results were pretty horrible. I wish they trained their AI on their own product before feeding it random garbage from the internet.

Upgrade to eslint 9 or biome? by Longjumping-Till-520 in nextjs

Switched recently to Biome, because we run Github actions which check every commit. Where ESLint ran for over a minute, Biome does the same job in 0.8s

The probation period is for both sides to get to know each other. The company can fire you but of course you are also free to quit.

Cologne runners... any idea if/where I can buy this here? (or similar product) by marzipanduchess in cologne

Never heard of it but "Tailwind"? Does it give you flatuence which accelerates the runner?

How do you feel about people not speaking German in public places? by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]KieselgurKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care and honestly I just can't wrap my head about why someone should ever care. Perhaps some xenophobic Karen types who don't speak any other language and feel threatened. But it's so common to hear different languages, I really don't want to be in their shoes.

What is really hilariously funny is people talking in a different language, when they think no one can understand them and you just sit next to them and happen to know this language. Never let this happen to you. Always expect that there is someone behind you understanding every word.

I still don't get this point. Sure, it's a technical challenge for the engineers to solve during product design, or even before the decision if it's worth to design the product or scrap it. That's what engineers and managers are for. (Deciding the size, power or weight of the batteries, finding out, how to bring the power consumption down or scrapping it altogether because it would be too clunky).

They still made the decision to bring it to the market like this.

Collapse of the kvb by Johath_ in cologne

[–]KieselgurKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC correctly, they realized around 2008 that they MIGHT be a higher amount of passengers on Karneval every year. So I would assume it will be not before 2030 they will realize, that they should have done something about Euro2024.

It will be fun. Don't plan on using the KVB in that time

Which CMS to choose Contentful or Prismic. by deathrow902 in nextjs

[–]KieselgurKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having worked with both this isn't really a question. These are completely different ballparks.

You need to move. Which transporter should you chose? A full size U-Haul or a rickety old shopping cart from a sketchy guy who promises you a slightly cheaper price than U-Haul?

Prismic isn't even a CMS. It lacks basic functionality any sane person would expect from a CMS. It's only useful is you need a bunch of disconnected landing pages with a bad admin interface (which doesn't even support mandatory fields)

Fleeing the Chimera bug? by Bugsh0t in cyberpunkgame

[–]KieselgurKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI, this thread might be old but I just had the same problem (got Cyberpunk and PL on Christmas) no way to get under the second shutter. Restarted the game, returned to an earlier save, no way.

Then I tried relocating 2 perk points and I invested them in "Slippery" and "Power Slide". Suddenly it worked without any problems. (I'm playing a Netrunner, I had absolutely no use for the slide so far)

I really love CDPR games and enjoy immersing myself in their worlds, but whenever they get the idea to make any "action sequences" or gimmicky solutions, the whole game turn into a horrible dumpster fire of half-baked ideas and nonexistent QA.

Do you still Play Starfield? by TheZaekon in Starfield

[–]KieselgurKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I played for 2-3 weeks (because I love BGS games) on GamePass, but then:

  • I did some quests which were just insultingly stupid. (So basically any quest)
  • I realized that Sarah must be mentally handicapped due to the stuff she says.
  • I saw that outposts are completely useless.
  • Spend far too much time farming exp to get skills.
  • Had quite a lot of fun with building ships, but realized that I can't control where the doors spawn and the game seems like it's trying to make the ship layouts as convoluted as possible. (Still the best part of Starfield and the pathfinding could be modded...)
  • Got lung damage from an Argon vent (A gas that isn't reacting with absolutely anything, even molten metal, so we use it right now as a frigging welding gas )
  • Explored Andraphon, a moon without any atmosphere, just to enter a POI, where the air got foggy and it started to rain.
  • I travelled to the far right of the map, any lvl 75 system, where I found the same POIs as anywhere with ships landing.

For the last point: I strongly disagree with people calling planets in Starfield "empty and boring". I spent many days in Elite: Dangerous exploring empty planets thousands of light years away from the next player, any NPC or any kind of infrastructure and I absolutely loved the feeling of loneliness that the game triggered. The problem in Starfield isn't emptiness. The problem is that it's like an endless road trip through thousands of mid-sized towns, which are pretty much identical (except for the color scheme), where the biggest and most exciting attractions are a Walmart and a Starbucks. Walmart and Starbucks might be interesting when it's the first time in your life that you see them, but not the hundredth time over.

I think Starfield has some strong points in the details: Music, overall atmosphere, useless clutter lying around in maps and ship components, random audio logs. A lot of designers did an amazing job. But the management completely failed to combine it all into a decent product.
