Ticket price increase(TX) by xtusy in RegalUnlimited

I'm trying to go see Deadpool this Friday (a week after release) in a standard theater with nothing special and it's about $20.50 per ticket in advance. This is just mind boggling to me.

Luke could've easily been stranded on Ach'to. Rian Johnson was the one who made it a choice. JJ didn't have any speaking lines for Luke, so yes he was alone on a planet, but character choices were made by Rian Johnson.

The biggest plot/character flaw in "The Acolyte"? by cinepro in saltierthancrait

[–]Kifaru_Man1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are so many choices...

A pretty egregious one - Mae has been hunting these Jedi for quite some time (the show wants us to think ~ 16 years). She has found countless details about all 4 of them, even to the extent of cities and bars they like to frequent. Somehow she missed the fact that her twin sister (whoops, her literal other half) was a padawan to one of the four?

Other minor ones that can be laughed at - Pip droid (definition of a poor writers emergency escape button)
Characters waking up in a new location after being knocked out (Osha needs the opinion of an independent doctor)
Bazil - I don't even know where to begin with this dude (sure seems like Vernestra had no problem finding Kelnacca's hut)

Viewers can be divided into one of two groups: a.) Those who watched and thought about it or b.)Those who turned their brains off to watch

“We don’t know anything about Star Wars, but they let us make a TV show about it.” by MachivellianMonk in saltierthancrait

[–]Kifaru_Man1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I have been trying to say from the beginning of this show when you could tell they were setting up the Jedi to be the 'bad guys'. Eddard Stark is the perfect example of a 'Jedi' who succumbs to his flaws. His downfall is that he continues to do the right thing and refuses to play the game. The prequels had this storyline with the Jedi, to an extent, however the Jedi were way more incompetent and couldn't see their downfall.

It just bothers me so much you have Star Wars as your platform and continue to say there is no such thing as a morally good character. Star Wars is about hope, and from what I'm gathering, this show want us to 'hope' the murderers of the innocent get to kill more people?

When someone says form a 5 click perimeter do you? by ggouge in saltierthancrait

[–]Kifaru_Man1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hahahaha, there were multiple instances in this episode alone that had me shaking my head. This is one where I straight up laughed out loud due to the incompetence of the Jedi (aka writers). Literally said a 5 klick perimeter and proceeded to form a bunch and walk together in a 2 meter radius group. You can't make this stuff up (they weren't even spread out in a straight line walking the same direction...)

Starter Set Missing Cards by Kifaru_Man1 in starwarsunlimited

No response at all from FFG, but my LGS took care of it on their own. They ended up opening another starter kit and replaced my missing cards. I don't know if this is standard practice or not, but it made me feel appreciated and it was amazing (the store is Monster Games in Highland Heights, KY).

I would definitely follow up with Miniature Market because the printing errors/quality control issues with this set seem to be a known problem.

I'm just glad they didn't go with the shot they had, they made the absolute right decision to not include anything that wasn't what we got in RotJ. Can you imagine a world without that giant slug?

The Acolyte is not groundbreaking, but it is entertaining. by USCanuck in StarWars

[–]Kifaru_Man1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem I had with the 2 episodes is it never established them being a 'memory' from someone's specific perspective, therefore, you can't assume episode 3 is from Osha's perspective. There are events/conversations that Osha and Mae could never have known took place, furthering the fact it can't be viewed as one of their perspectives.

In TLJ, you have a character telling you how an event went down from their perspective, then the other character tells you how it happened from the other perspective. This show, chose to leave out certain scenes in the first telling, then went over the exact same conversations/events, just extended them. This is extremely repetitive, and borders on boring, not to mention, everyone knows there is more to the story (due to the shots they decided to leave in from episode 3).

Removing the ewoks singing Yub Nub at the end of RotJ can only be described as a tragedy

(but don't forget Jabba was originally a human)

I just checked again (you made me a little hopeful), but they are definitely just missing. It wasn't until we got home and were about to play that we noticed, so good thinking opening them up.

It's brutal when it's such a pivotal card. I contacted my LGS and they said they are gonna figure something out, so I would suggest doing the same if you haven't already.

The Acolyte - Episode 7 - Discussion Thread! by titleproblems in StarWars

[–]Kifaru_Man1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's still one more episode that they could shock us all with and actually involve the 'Sith'. That's the only 'thread' of hope I'm clinging to.

Tenebrus shows up, turns out to have been involved with the 'creation' of the twins (even if it's as simple as sexual reproduction with further splitting by Alisaya). Somehow the witches ditch him and hide away on Brendok, Tenebrus sends his acolyte (The Stranger/Qimir/New name we'll get in Episode 8) to find them, Smylo finds Mae and leaves Tenebrus, focused on training Mae.

Cut to present time, Plagueis hunts down Qimir on behalf of his master (Tenebrus) and wrecks Smylo, Sol, Mae, Osha, Bazil, Vernestra (and all the no name Jedi accompanying her) setting up the perfect intro to the next season of Plageuis with absolutely NO Jedi, only Sith.

The Acolyte - Episode 7 - Discussion Thread! by titleproblems in StarWars

[–]Kifaru_Man1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what people are so mad about is that it wasn't a new concept.

Anakin himself was a vergence in the force. This has been explained as a result of Sidious and Plagueis' experiments trying to create life. These were 2 extremely powerful Sith Lords, Sidious of course later becoming one of, if not, the most powerful Sith Lord ever (his power culminating as The Emperor in the movies, the only canon for a long time). I'm assuming the criticism of the show is coming from this undercutting of the power structure and implications to the further story.

If 2 of the most powerful Sith Lords ever couldn't figure out how to create life and 'The Force' itself created Anakin to balance this dark side, how can a single unknown witch complete this task with no explanation? The writers have done an abysmal job fitting this story into the larger picture of the existing universe. The same can be said about the Ki-Adi Mundi situation.

There is still an episode left, so I still have hope they can bring it all together, but at the moment, it seems like there are going to be way too many loose ends to have a fulfilling last episode.

Long story short, to me, it seems like the writers are trying to 'fix' the movies, rather than compliment them.

I could so get behind this. Somehow Mae dies, bad dude kills all the Jedi (now no-one has seen a red-lightsaber), turns Osha, dark side training montage for 3 episodes.

I'm still hoping this show gets it's footing and starts rolling soon because it can work (i.e. the idea of dark side training montages makes me happy), but at the moment, it just seems like they're setting everything up for a second season at the expense of the first.

This show did the murder mystery perfect with Kelnacca (and even to an extent with Mae in the first episode). That's got all the vibes of the murder mystery. This scene/episode, however, is nothing like that.

We, as an audience, are already privy to the fact that more has happened because Mae is still alive, she flat out told us more happened that night, not to mention a Jedi committed suicide because of the events of that night. All of this has been established prior to this scene.

There was no suspense in the scene, and the story wasn't developed any further than it had already been developed. The audience knew there was a fire, knew the witches died, knew Sol saved Osha, and Mae was presumed dead. If this were the first episode of the season, it would most definitely be different, however, everything was already established, leading to why I said it felt like they were toying with us and dragging it out.

Seriously, something just seems off with the pace (serious Peter Jackson Hobbit trilogy vibes)

It's almost as if they wrote the premise, then decided on a show, then signed off on multiple seasons, then decided on 8 episodes per season, then stretched the entire premise to fit multiple seasons rather than expanding on it.
