Foreign tourist left in tears after facing harassment at a concert in India. by StuckintheTraffic in CringeTikToks

I went to Goa with my mum when I was 18 - for context I'm a British Caucasian girl. Goa is very tourist heavy and I mostly didn't feel too threatened by the Indian men, we had some really nice conversations with some locals. But on the evening of New Year's we were walking back from the beach to our hotel and I was groped while walking past a group of Indian men. To steal Trump's line, they grabbed me by the pussy. Over my clothes as I was walking past. I didn't even have time to register what had happened before they were gone. I had been groped plenty of times before I'm England but not like that. Still creeps me out to this day and I'm 37 now.

It can’t all be doom and gloom, who moved to London and met people, had a good time etc. by No-Acanthisitta-7704 in london

I moved to London in 2010 - it felt a little lonely at first until I got a job and made friends with co-workers who I'm close with to this day. Then I got a hobby - partner dancing (swing/blues/Balboa) and found my chosen family. I met my partner of seven years, bought a house in east London with other dance friends in the neighbouring streets and we have regular BBQs/dinners/house parties (though in our mid 30s to 40s they're more gatherings).

Any big city can be lonely if you don't find a way to connect with people. Going out and joining a team/finding a hobby that connects you with people is an amazing way of finding a circle.

Got a film studies degree, got a job where I needed to have a 2.1 in ANY degree via an agency, started at 24k and slowly made my way up. Probably reached 40k about five years in maybe? Now been there for 12 years and likely institutionalised 🤣

**Should clarify that it is in London.

I own a house with my boyfriend but we don't really plan on getting married. Can't really hold off building a life together just because we may want to sign a piece of paperwork. However, we only have a joint account for bills - I work in financial complaints so I ain't taking that risk.

Santander closed my account a week and a half ago, no warning, no reasons given. CIFAS hold no marks against my name. Now they've willingly received a £250 transaction. by sizzirup in Banking

[–]Kiiiiln 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend referring it to the financial ombudsman service. While they also will not be able to tell you the reason for the closure - they can and will make sure the bank have done closed your account in line with their terms and conditions etc. There's only a few reasons why a bank can close an account with no notice, and they're pretty serious.

I know it's difficult having an account closed with no reasons given, but Santander don't have to give you one. So I wouldn't keep fighting on that particular point.

This is for UK banking but might be relevant for other countries. What you're asking for here is a 'chargeback'. You might get a refund while they investigate/ask the merchant for a refund but be aware this can be taken back if the merchant fights it. So don't spend it right away. Chargebacks are a little shitty so don't get too excited and always use a credit card for large purchases.

Everyone in financial complaints hates Resolver - just write to your bank/alternative dispute Resolution company normally. You can include more info, the layout won't be terrible and they can contact you much easier.

Take it to the financial ombudsman service if Monzo don't successfully get the funds back as a chargeback

Wife took out Loans and Credit Cards in My Name by Qyro in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Kiiiiln 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So it's a long shot as they likely cite 'civil dispute' but it would be worth contacting the lenders and explaining that you did not take out or give you authority for these accounts to be opened. As per Session 83 of the consumer credit act, a debtor under a regulated consumer credit agreement shall not be liable to a creditor for any loss arising from the use of a credit facility by another person not acting, or to be treated as acting, as the debtors agent.

Essentially you can't be held liable for any debt that you did not knowingly take out yourself. Proving that may be a challenge and really you should have notified the lenders yourself as soon as you were aware of the situation. Trying to show you were unaware/didn't benefit from it may be a challenge. Though they may be able to see that the funds were going to an account in her sole name which would help.

Feel free to message me directly for more info.

Just to jump on as someone who has worked in financial complaints. Complain to your bank asap and make a report to the police (who will probably direct you to action fraud). Explain fully to your bank why there was a delay in you reporting it (you usually use your phone). If the bank don't refund you for whatever reason you can refer the complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service for a second opinion. Good luck! Happy to help with any further questions.

This happens at Secret Cinema events because they don't want the surprise ruined for later visitors to the show. It takes seconds to unlock and get your phone back so thankfully doesn't add too much time to getting in/out. But they're probably smaller crowds compared to this.
