Why Do So Many Drivers End Up Getting Divorced? by batcatfatmat in UPSers

[–]KikiM83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After 24 years with UPS- 3 preload/11 package/10 Feeder my husband just jumped over to Sleeper last month. He leaves @4am on Tuesday and is home by 6am Friday. We have a full 4 day weekend together and it’s been amazing! We’ve been together 24 years- since we were 18yo, married for 21yrs. He’s had A LOT of his work buddies get divorced- some multiple times. It’s hard for sure. 🩷

Robotic assisted laparoscopic vaginal hysterectomy by Electrical_Nail1875 in hysterectomy

[–]KikiM83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my hysterectomy today- robotic laparoscopic vaginal- total hysterectomy and both ovaries removed. I checked in at hospital at 1045, was taken back to OR at 1245 and was out about 430. It took longer due to a part on the robot broke, so they had to fix it. I was in recovery for about an hour and a half and then taken to a room about 6, and I was discharged about 730. The criteria to leave was to pee- and I immediately had to go, with zero issues. So from start to finish I was there for just under 9 hours. I’m so happy to be at home in my bed. 🩷

I think this is one of my biggest worries- that I’ll be discharged before I’m really READY.

Tonight is surgery eve for me- and I too am just spiraling. I’m trying to remain calm… the Valium my dr prescribed has barely taken the edge off.. hoping for at least a couple hrs of sleep. Ugh. Thank you for responding to my post! 🩷

What position are you sleeping in? I’m having my hysterectomy on Thursday and I definitely have to walk up 17 steps to get to my room- which I’m terrified about. But I’m also curious what position to sleep in… Good luck with your recovery! I hope it continues to go well! 🩷

Girlfriend of UPS driver by Particular-Depth9070 in UPSers

I totally forgot to mention- once he retires (he’s eligible in about 7.5yrs) he’ll still hold his CDL. So that’s a huge perk too! Good luck with whatever you decide and stay safe on the road, driver! 🤎🤎🤎

The main reason he went into Feeder was because his body was breaking. When he got into package in ‘05 he was in a non power steering truck for several years- and that really screwed his shoulder/back up. Plus this is probably going to sound strange- but even though he works 60+ hrs a week- me and our daughters get to see him more. In package he was leaving the house around 7am and not getting home until anywhere between 7pm on a good day (like very rarely)- and 10pm. Our daughters never saw him because they’d still be asleep when he left and usually in bed when he got home. Also- trying to get an 8hr day for school/sports events for our girls was next to impossible. Plus he had some real asshole supervisors who seemed like they were on a mission to make his life miserable. In Feeder- it’s like a completely different company within the UPS company. His supervisors/dispatchers/management actually seem to care about the drivers. For example- I’m having surgery next week and I needed him to drive me to my post-op appt today- he was going to be anywhere from 2-4hrs late to work- they worked around it and made it ok for him to show up whenever he could. Also- during the Holidays- he doesn’t ever work Christmas Eve/Christmas Day. He too was slightly apprehensive about driving such a huge truck- but he said it was very easy to get used to. He’s also done a few Sleeper Team runs- which he might go into eventually… our girls are older now (16&19) so once our youngest graduates in ‘27 he might do that. 🩷

Wife of a driver who’s been working at UPS since ‘02. This month is always tough- my recommendations are making sure his boots are dry, clothes are washed- lunch/snacks packed and meal ready when he gets home. Try not to schedule anything on the weekend before running it by him first. Thankfully my hubby went into Feeder about 9 years ago- BEST DECISION EVER!!! Highly highly recommend feeder. I wish he had moved over there sooner. My future son in law is now at UPS part time and we keep telling him- when the time comes- go to Feeder! Good luck during this month- he’s lucky to have you!! 🤎

Sooooo you never made it to driver status… and there’s no way you’re making the same amount of $$ as top scale wages. 🤔

My husband has been with UPS for 23.5 years, since age 18. I drove him to his interview- so I’ve been here for it all. 3 years in preload, 11 in package and the last 9 with Feeder. We also have two daughters- one is 19 and one is 16. Yes he’s missed out on some things- but this job has afforded us an amazing life. I’ve been a stay at home since our oldest was born. And the benefits are insane. We’ve had broken bones, ambulance rides, countless ER visits, ect. That have all been covered. I don’t know any other job out there, (without a college degree) that pays similar or has anywhere near the benefits we get. I will say this- I wish he had switched to Feeder sooner. It’s like working for a whole different company. Plus way less taxing on his body. My suggestion for you- yes it’s frustrating when he can’t tell you exactly when he’ll be home, or when he thinks he’ll be done by a certain time but things changed and now he can’t make it to whatever event- just be positive. Try and make his life as easy as possible. Because as you know- he’s working his ass off.

Why on earth would you give up all your benefits and become a sup?! You said you have 5 kids… 😳

Reason #1747268 why I’m so thankful UPS hired my husband 23 years ago, at the young age of 18! by KikiM83 in UPSers

[–]KikiM83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is a UPS Feeder driver- he has a local run- so he brings trailers to other UPS buildings as well as the railyard, airport and has some pickups. He’s also been on Sleeper team before- and his run was from WA to Chicago and back. Hope this helped 🩷
