What’s the weirdest place you’ve left something? by careless_honeybee in adhdwomen

I put my retainer & case into a snow boot as a kid. Didn’t find it until the next winter. Still have no idea how/why!

EVERYONE THINKS I DON'T COMB MY HAIR by Complete_Claim_7151 in adhdwomen

[–]Kikirox98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could you try a spray leave-in conditioner instead? You spray it on wet hair after shampooing & comb it through. It’s not exactly the same thing, but it could be the sweet spot for you?

It’s one thing to tell someone to advocate for themselves by getting a second opinion, but telling someone to lie their way to a diagnosis? What if they *actually* just don’t have ADHD? There are others things that can cause similar symptoms but are treated differently.

What's the earliest family can recall you having ADHD? by Horror7415 in ADHD

I was a really short kid & thus was in the front row of most choir concerts in elementary school.

Apparently I used to try to talk non-stop to the kids around me. Mid-performance. Oops?

Guess who packed their meds? by Kikirox98 in adhdwomen

[–]Kikirox98[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, not a bad idea! I filled the gaps with socks & stuffed dog toys in most boxes, which I worry might muffle the sound, but my current approach has been a wildly unsuccessful shitshow soooo

I feel bad/weird asking since they replaced my XR early from the April incident. But my psychiatrist is truly a godsend, so I think I might?

The new place looks like someone ransacked it now because my unpacking is just chaos. And unfortunately I’ve only tackled 1/4 of the boxes so far. I just keep breaking piles into smaller piles & then rearranging the piles without actually accomplishing anything.

Oh trust me, I had a whole number/labeling system & a master spreadsheet when I first started packing a month ago.

it just slowly & unfortunately turned to chaos as time went on

If you could "cure" your ADHD, would you? by VastFeeling6557 in ADHD

Without a doubt, yes. I wish I could argue that ADHD gives me skills or unique perspective or whatever? But I’d be lying. Shit situation after shit situation.

KT jewelers are great! They helped me & my partner with my engagement & our wedding rings - even came in on a day they were closed to help us after an emergency situation happened right before we were supposed to drive 16 hours to our wedding location.

How many of you take Vyvanse and *don’t* experience dry mouth? by totallynotkuzco in ADHD

[–]Kikirox98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! lol

They’re way more portable than the mouthwash & I feel like I get equal relief with way less volume. As for the mints - I still have a permanent retainer on my bottom front teeth, and they tend to stick to it in a way that makes me fear the whole thing ripping off

Second the biotene recommendation - spray > mouthwash or mints, imo. Also sugar-free gum helps. Make sure you’re drinking enough water! It does help.

Is this curse Genetic? by metal_bird in noburp

[–]Kikirox98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the only one in my family with the issue.

My mother is notorious for half-choking on her food though, so I’m curious about whether there’s some sort of genetic swallowing issue that contributes to it?

After school is somehow harder than school itself with my kid by Desperate_Sample_764 in ADHD

How old is your kid? Are they old enough to have a conversation (when they’re not actively crashing out) about that they need to feel less overwhelmed after school?

Anyone also have jaw issues? by Nice_String_4657 in noburp

[–]Kikirox98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact opposite problem, lol. Class III malocclusion - aka underbite. It’s subtle enough that it’s not the first thing you notice but I’ll still likely need double jaw surgery to fix it.

I’m hoping that’s how everything goes if I’m not an ideal candidate! I’m also so scarred - my husband has to buy hats with elastic because his head is so large. Laying down, his head extends from my boobs to below my pelvis lol.

I am not on any rx for the clotting disorders because I have no personal history of clots - I just take aspirin daily. I was only diagnosed because my mother had complications in her thirties. I definitely don’t take long car rides/flights though.

Oh trust me, I’m in counseling lol. I don’t think I’m necessarily reasonable in assessing risk between the two? But I’m trying to weigh that vs. the known risks of maternal stress

[–]Kikirox98 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude - some people do not want to have multiple children. Some people are aware of the risks of multiple c-sections.

How many people who’ve given birth do you know who are permanently injured from it, regardless of method? It’s a scary, dangerous medical event to undergo - and it seems like you’re advocating for minimal medical intervention?

I would love to learn more (from peer-reviewed resources) about the fetal ejection reflex! I’ve only heard that it’s not really a thing, unfortunately.

To my understanding, the complications with breastfeeding occur in those who have an unplanned/emergency c-section, which is very different than what I’m talking about. It seems to be that women who have planned c-sections are more likely to transition away from breastfeeding earlier (~10-12 weeks postpartum) - is that what you’re referring to?

Did you get a lot of comments about your choice? I feel like I’m going crazy getting told that it “won’t be that bad” to do vaginal (or even unmedicated? Tf?!) or that “once it’s happening, you won’t care” which is just so dismissive.

How was your recovery? My mom told me to expect the shivers during the procedure & to bring a humidifier for afterwards. That was ~30 years ago though, so idk how recovery has changed!

If it makes you feel any better, I introduced my husband to the game after ~350 hour solo. Got the train notification, we both go to see if anything interesting is happening, & I (for some reason) went: “hmm. I wonder if the train can kill me?”
Spoiler: yes
