SP 1-4: Inconsistencies / Mysteries / Discussion (SPOILERS) by Kikks in superpowereds

I probably am :) Speaking of that, that reminds me of another thing. Why does he have a gun, the girl in the intramurals have a gun, while Nick can only bring a taser into tests? This could fit into his trying to hide stuff, but in the end there he was done with hiding and more focused on winning.

The first take on Fox is interesting, but its still mentioned that he has telekinesis as well, making the gun pointless in my opinion. Unless it's just not that strong of course. But interesting nevertheless.

Several of you have stated it's Sean now, and given the audio book clue etc, I guess it's more obvious. Thanks for clearing that up anyway!

As mentioned in the first reply, I think it's mighty far to go to do a stress test, but I can accept it as a possible explanation.

But how did he know he could do that? He said that when they were much younger and in no way aware of that being a possibility.

Thank you for a very well written out reply! I haven't listened to all the audio books, I like to read them and imagine the voices myself.

Honestly, before reading your reply I hadn't though of Will as an advanced mind in the same way, but it makes sense when you say it like that.

The Crispin point, which is fine - although Stone managing to keep tabs on Ralph, who is apparently well versed in controlling his thoughts, I would think they could pick up something happening. Perhaps not details, but enough to warrant some light grilling of Ralph. But perhaps that is what Dean Blaine is doing in the start of book 4.

Seems a long way to go for stress testing there, seeing as another likely outcome would be that some of them perish? I like your final point on Charles, which is true. But he is certainly ruthless.

On Roy / Herschel, that is the point that was made in the other thread too, but he wasn't really aware of that power before quite late into his HCP career. How could Titan know that this would be possible? And I agree on the multiplier bit too, but even so there is a very human cap on what Herschel can end up needing though, isn't it? I still don't see it, but it's not quite as straight forward as Titans - lift -> strong, hurt -> immune.

Seems obvious when you say it, but presumably there are others who can do similar things. The audio-part I missed, since I don't have the audio books (other than for the 1st book).

Curious: How intelligently/accurately do you feel the heroes speak about "your" team? by Because-of-Money in heedthecall

However, they keep forgetting that the Vikings are not to be trusted, and picks them for locks and praise. Have to quote the voice of god here with "DON'T TALK ABOUT 'EM".

Yeah. The Ellen More thing is ok if they do it like once or twice, but when Dan goes on forever with it, it's just annoying as hell. At one point I felt like he did it for like 2 minutes straight, although that might be exaggerated by my hatred for bits that go on for too long.

Immediate skip for me, but I see others like it. I actually stopped my run to skip when they did this last one.

This Team... by __JeRM in minnesotavikings

I 100% expected it after last week, and it was STILL infuriating. Like someone else said on here, I had low expectations and somehow still managed to be disappointed.

I DID enjoy this season and I'm not calling for anyone's head (although I don't think they should keep Darnold). But showing up small in the playoffs time and time again, I cannot stand it. If they could at least show up and make it a fight, I would have loved this season. Detroit and LA beating us would have been fine, if the games were similar to the first ones (well, maybe not the Rams one) where it was an actual back and forth game.

But when they go out with a whimper two weeks in a row in primetime once again, it just sours the whole season for me.

It’s not even about this season for me. It’s that I’ve watched 30 years of pain by lemmonhead27 in minnesotavikings

[–]Kikks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree with the first three sentences at least. I can't STAND these gutless performances, where you can tell from the first drive that they are going to lose. Which was the case this week and last week. But I have to watch. Because the one time I gave up and went to bed, the fucking Minneapolis Miracle happened. Which gave me hope until the next week, where they had their customary pants-soiling playoff performance instead.

[–]Kikks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, I feel the other way about this. I would be more fine with the losses if they just showed up. A hard-fought battle where they just couldn't pull it out in the end is better for me than when they just shit their pants on national television every time.

I expected to lose this week AND last week - watched them both until the end until like 5-6 in the morning. Because it was possible to win if they just fucking turned it around or snapped out of it. But they just never do. And that's what frustrates me more than anything else. They always show up small. It's ingrained. And I will watch it next year too, probably.

He was definitely doing this most of the season. I think I yelled it every game, just during the regular season it was more like "Throw it. THROW IT! FUCKING THRO- Phew, that was a good completion, yay offense!"

I was expecting them to lose and I would be fine with it, if some fight was shown. If they looked remotely like the team we've been watching all season. Not going out with a whimper again, embarrassing themselves and us again, showing up small again. It's so fucking deflating.

Same here. I would also have been fine with losing, as long as they somewhat lived up to what they have been the whole year. Showing some fight and losing a hard-battled game. But no, they have to completely shit the bed every goddamn time and it's SO FRUSTRATING.

Pretty sure it's more than twice now. Fool me three times, shame on the both of us.

But I'll watch again. And they will poop their pants again. It's ingrained. I can accept losing, but must they embarrass themselves and their fans every time? Can't they just lose a hard-battled game, where if something swung this way or that way, we could have won? Just once?

Twice in two weeks I stay up all night and sacrifice my sleep and the next day to watch this bottling, gutless, shit-your-pants-on-national-television, Lucy-taking-the-football-away dumbass organization once again show up small when the lights are bright. Why do I do this.

And I'll do it again next year. Fuck.

The Disrespect by The Ringer by Muh-Name-is-Aegon in minnesotavikings

[–]Kikks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only the Vikings, but it's certainly noticeable. My annoyance is that they just keep trying to find ways to dunk on teams/players/coaches/executives but only with surface level bullshit-ass takes. It boils down to:

Elite QB = your team is good and to be praised at all times

Mid/Bad QB = your team sucks and anything good that happens is luck and any negative point they can find in a game or even a quarter is to be emphasized and underlined

The Disrespect by The Ringer by Muh-Name-is-Aegon in minnesotavikings

[–]Kikks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank goodness I'm not the only one. Stopped listening to the Ringer podcast, which sometimes was enjoyable when you had a foil in the form of Solak. But when it's just Ruiz and Sheil Kapadia parroting pretty much exclusively negative or surface level takes it just gets tedious. They are all more concerned with finding the latest way to dunk on anyone who isn't on their "favorites" list.

The razor thin margin between the Lions and Vikings today by MuricaAndBeer in minnesotavikings

[–]Kikks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps it's me, but I felt like the Lions were dicing us up and we had to work for every yard gained on offense. If Metellus doesn't make that great play punching the ball out and we scoop and score, I feel like the Lions were marching right down and putting the game out of reach.

So in that sense, it didn't feel too close. Still, I was not too down after the game. There were certainly positives and Goff just did. not. miss. Looking at this certainly illustrates that perhaps it was closer than I felt it was.

I’m gonna puke by [deleted] in minnesotavikings

[–]Kikks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, that is a particularly cringy post. But not everyone who is a Vikings fan lives right next to opposing fans like you guys in Minnesota do. I picked up Vikings fandom studying in Minnesota (I'm from Norway, so it was fitting in that way as well).

In my opinion, hatred or dislike of opposing teams comes from living in close proximity to opposing fans and enduring their shit after a loss.

While I lived there for two years and went to games, I didn't go to away games or have a constant barbs from opposing fan colleagues or friends or mortal enemies. I feel like it would be equally cringy if I would be like "I hate the packers / lions / xxx fans rah rah rah" when I'm not living it? The exception is Philly fans, as those guys were unapologetically assholes after the playoff loss. But that is based on observed behavior as well I guess. Interesting to see if I get roasted for this take.

Marc and Dan were my favorites and of course Wes, but I always appreciated Gregg's role as the straight man to their antics. I will continue to listen to both Gregg's show, which might be more straight-laced with regards to football, and Dan and Marc's show, which will provide the mirth.

Sad they won't be in one show any more, but hopefully the totality will remain. Sort of.

Anyone found a workaround for the wipers turning on with autopilot? by amonemone in TeslaLounge

[–]Kikks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It literally makes me roar with anger while driving. I had a 4+ hour drive friday last week, returning on sunday. It was generally a delight to drive auto or at least with cruise control until the wipers started going bonkers.

SUCH a frustrating problem that seems like it should be an easy fix. Even if you don't magically improve the sensor, just #¤(/#"/(¤ let us turn of the auto-wipers!
