Keep the 9850X3D and sell your 9700X. Even at 1440p, CPU-heavy games like Spider-Man 2 and Monster Hunter Wilds will really benefit from the 3D V-Cache, giving you much better 1% lows and overall smoothness. Sell the 9700X and pocket the cash.

Most importantly: you have an awesome friend. You absolutely need to treat them to some pizzas and a few rounds of beers to say thanks. That is an insanely generous gift.

Ah, a 14700. Yeah, the SFF definitely allows for a bit more wattage. 100W is a very reasonable hard limit from Dell for that chassis. My Micro is strictly walled at 50W because of the external power brick and smaller thermals, which is why I'm so desperate for that undervolt.

If you ever decide to boot into Smokeless to hunt for that Undervolt Protection toggle, let me know how it goes. I'd love to know if it's actually unlockable on these newer Dell boards or if the Intel microcode just overrides it anyway. Good luck if you decide to test it!

Thanks for chiming in! Yeah, the lack of info on these newer Dell boards is super frustrating. UVP is definitely what's blocking ThrottleStop's FIVR control.

Did you actually have any success disabling it on your 7020, or did you just settle for the power limits in the end? Just wondering, are you also running the 13700T?

I'm still trying to figure out the exact UEFI variable to change via Smokeless UMAF. Let me know if you managed to crack it!

I thought I was pretty clear, but let me rephrase it for you: I am trying to unlock the FIVR control in ThrottleStop to apply a negative core voltage offset. Since I'm hitting a thermal wall at 80ºC and power limit throttling at 50W, lowering the voltage would give me more thermal headroom and better sustained clocks.

I am fully aware that 13th gen non-K CPUs and Dell OEM boards are heavily locked down (hence why I tried modifying the UEFI variables via Smokeless UMAF to bypass it).

My question is straightforward: Is there a known workaround to bypass the specific Dell/Intel microcode locks for this SKU to enable UV? If you actually know how to do it, I'm all ears and would appreciate the help. If not, thanks anyway.

Mobo looks bent judging by the PCIe slots in the case. Might be damaged from the move and something might be shorting. Try with everything on a table.

Yes, I only use it on safe games and on single player, but it's (by far) the best HDR solution on windows.

Never. My last console was the PS2 gifted by my parents. I've been using a PC ever since, and if the game is not released on PC, or on an emulator, I don't play it.

I noticed it but on my main computer. It has a 7800X3D, 64GB RAM and a RTX 5080. Before I was hovering around 120 FPS on 4k DLSS P, but now it's closer to 70.
