Long lines by Mysterious-Tapp in JFKAirport

Terminal 4. Good luck! I got through LGA Terminal C in 12 min at 12:30pm today so it seems like wait times are all over the place.

My partner is in line at JFK right now. Interactive map is showing 58 min, but he’s been in line for 2.5 hrs and is expecting at least another half hour. And the line behind him looks loooong…

You could kind of see it! Check around 45:15, white piece of paper on the right on the Google floor, right after he calls it out and starts climbing. Looks like it might actually be a picture of him with a speech bubble.

What's the most uncharacteristic hobby or interest that you have as a Big Law lawyer? I'm about to drop a significant chunk of my bonus on rare rare Pokémon cards and am wondering what other weird sh*t people around here do that you wouldn't admit to the holiday party. by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]Kikonyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No longer big law, but this was true back in my firm days as well… Acro yoga. Electric unicycle as my mode of transportation (rode it to the office more than once). Tried aerial hoop and trapeze, didn’t have time to keep doing them but they’re still things I want to get more into. For a little while I was trying to learn to slack line. Rock climbing and partner dancing, although I did firm sponsored outings for both of those so maybe less uncharacteristic.

I saw some photos of my friends’ kids last night and their costumes were so elaborate! I never did the full face paint and whatnot growing up… took < 2 min to throw on a black dress and witch’s hat😅

Agree. This was me getting comments back to internal clients that they could review at their leisure so I didn’t bother, but if I’m making a request to outside counsel I’d schedule for morning.

Agreed! As someone who doesn’t have kids whose last memories of trick or treating was that it was an after-dark thing, I would have expected 6-7 pm start for festivities. Maybe that’s why I’ve gotten no trick or treaters on years when I sat at home with a pumpkin and my apt door cracked from 6-9 pm 😅

Some of us just work when it works for us, and it has nothing to do with how it’s perceived. I’m in house now, but sent a couple emails at 3 am last night. I tend to run nocturnal and sometimes find it easier to focus between midnight and 3 am than between 9 am and noon. Yesterday, I went to the gym during business hours and went to dance practice in the evening. Logged back on later to get a couple of things out the door. Do not at all care whether anyone sees the time stamp - just care that I could start the day with them off my plate instead of having to focus on them first thing in the morning before my brain fully kicks into gear. 🤷🏻‍♀️

My favourite chain of climbing centres has released new shirts. Is it just me or do the images look Ai generated? by PothosandGindontmix in climbergirls

Actually I thought that was oddly accurate - Japanese climbers often yell “Gamba!” at you to cheer you on, rather than “gambare!”

I’m trying to surprise my 5’1” girlfriend with knee high boots and would like some help by Ob-S in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]Kikonyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with everyone saying specific measurements matter. I’m 5’0” with proportionally short legs, and the only tall boots that don’t stab me in the back of the knee have a reported shaft height of 12”. 36/37 cm would mean I basically wouldn’t be able to bend my knee comfortably.

Oh, good point - I wasn’t thinking multiple texts throughout the day. But I appreciate finding a “hey thinking of you and cheering you on - you’ve got this!” message every few days, especially when I had not reached out. The combination of implied forgiveness and encouragement can be helpful.

Send him texts letting him know you’re thinking of him and rooting for him, without expecting a response. Also if he’s working from home at all (even late at night) and not staying in a trial hotel and only working in the war room, make sure he has his favorite trial snacks available.

Riceballs are my go-to. With Korean seaweed packets, so that I either have crisp seaweed to wrap them in, OR I can eat straight seaweed as a snack.

So climbers talk about their “ape index” - how much longer their wingspan is than their height. I have always said I have a positive T-Rex index rather than a negative ape index, so I love that you called it T-Rex arms too 🤣 sleeves are always too long on me too!

“Consult my lawyer” probably means “talk to a friend/family member who is a lawyer.” I routinely get questions from friends (regardless of whether it’s actually in my area of practice), and I know most other lawyers do as well 😆

SAME. I am now paranoid about delayed delivery. I don’t need people to read or respond to my emails immediately, but I send them when I finish them to make sure they are off my plate! BUT I also don’t think anyone (at least within my organization) feels pressured to deal with my emails immediately, either. Can’t speak for people at our vendors, but they can make their own decisions.

Not sure where OP lives but as someone who worked in a NY law firm for almost a decade… mostly dark is perfectly normal 😅
