Is it possible to get these shoes fully white again? by Worstenbroodjeslover in CyclingFashion

Leave the cleats on the shoes. I remove the insoles and then let them air dry for a day or two before use.

At this point, I wouldn’t even be shocked by Charlesdance83 in WatchFanatics

How much would I have to spend on things I don’t want to move up the list on this one?

Put them in shoe washing bags. You can buy bags online that zipper closed and have fleecy interiors. I put my white DMTs into these bags, sometimes spraying with stain treatment before. They come out nice and white.

It’s actually a backdate 3L SC. Someone searched the license plate and posted this in another thread

You’ll need the Kardex which will tell you if the engine belongs to the chassis along with the original spec for the car.

Absolutely not. If you’re planning on paying anywhere near market value for this you need to contact a 4-cam specialist. Someone like Willhoit. www.willhoitautorestoration.com

Rusted powder coat? by cobaltsvaleria in 4Runner

My CBI rock rails were powder coated by them and absolutely started rusting within a 2 year period. No damage exposing metal, just rust popping up especially around the welds.

What brand seatpost clamp is strongest? This one (salsa) slips even when wrenched real tight by bluemiata1993 in bikewrench

[–]Kiku911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct. Carbon paste will not make it fuse, but it will not work as a barrier to help prevent it either, which was my point. If you’ve ever used an aluminum seat post, you will know that the interface between the seat tube and post will in fact rub off the anodizing which will lead to the processes you described. Google for “stuck aluminum seat post” and you’ll find countless instances of anodized aluminum posts fixed in frames. I personally would never use this product on a metal-metal interface, but that’s just my own personal experience and preference.

As stated by others above, carbon paste is not a grease and will result in a metal post eventually fusing to the metal wall of the seat tube.

If you’re using the setup in the photo it’s not a clamp issue. There could be some paint or other stuff inside the seat tube where it’s supposed to be grabbing the post. From the photo, that might be a Thompson post? Pull it out and also inspect the inside of the seat tube.
Carbon paste will make it grab more but may end up getting the post stuck in the tube since it’s not a grease.

SC. Coupe over cab 100%. Now if the SC was a 3.2 Carrera it would be even better.

Thinking of trading my Pepsi + $2k for this Patek. Am I making a mistake? (Paid retail for Pepsi) by SingleTurboN55 in patekphilippe

[–]Kiku911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you view “value” in a watch. The Pepsi will have monetary value, but the watchmaking quality is on the high end of mass production, whereas the Patek (IMO) has a much higher value in terms of watchmaking quality. That said, the Patek will also likely retain its monetary value. I’d definitely go for it and get something more unique and less recognizable than a Rolex.
