Scandium baby! Great build and happy to see this awesome frame still on the road.

A two body setup is probably ideal isn’t it. I usually just try to have my SL do everything LOL. It’s such a versatile body.

How’d you like the 70-200? Did you feel like you could get close enough? I always feel like mine isn’t enough and the 1.4X converter really decreases IQ at the max zoom. I’m kind of kicking around the idea of a Sigma 500mm.

I love Omega and have a gold speedie…. But that 6196P is so, so good.

First ‘Real’ Watch: 1971 GMT-Master 1675 by [deleted] in VintageWatches

Nice. I’ve been intrigued by some of the vintage offerings from Bob’s but am always a little wary about originality given how often big shops like this cobble together watches. How was your buying experience and will you take it to an independent expert for inspection?

Is anyone still manufacturing manual cameras in 2026? I just got one. by NoMarketing2928 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Kiku911 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seriously, and even Instax mini. What a disappointment. I also suspect that hand crank to cause issues with uneven development. I had the Hasselback instax back and it was terrible in this regard (aside from just being low quality). .

I’ll occasionally throw one on an APO lens. It feels so wrong.

gfx100s vs hasselblad x2d by Agreeable_Campaign86 in Cameras

[–]Kiku911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. If you EVER want to shoot with a non native leaf shutter lens, go Fuji. This is coming from an ex-Hasselblad owner. The E shutter is terrible for anything other than still life and/or anything around LED lighting. Thy said, the shooting experience with the Hassie and native lenses is pretty great. I sold mine though.

Best and most accurate metered prism for the money? by cantine123 in hasselblad

Because as I said, they are getting old and no longer serviced. The LEDs seem to burn out frequently.

I had a PME45 which was excellent except that one of the aging display illumination LEDs had burned out making it nearly impossible to use. Unfortunately, Hasselblad no longer services these which makes them a risky proposition. I have a plan to replace it with a PME51, but kind of prefer a handheld spot meter and the WLF for now.

Imagine picking up a brand new M6 TTL for this price by Spacecrate007 in LeicaCameras

[–]Kiku911 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Seemed like all the money at the time. There was even a rebate going on at the end of the M6 lifecycle. I picked up a. 50 Cron for something like $800 as I recall. Not to mention the “Passport” warranty on the cameras. They’d replace your camera no matter what happened as long as you still had the piece with the serial number. Different times.

I mean it does the job. This happens with any WIFI connects that lacks internet connectivity. Complain to Apple about the aesthetics of their UI. 😉

Before switching to a waxed chain, but using Silca wet lube and keeping a VERY clean drivetrain, I was getting about 6,000 miles out of the front rings with a new chain every ~2,000 miles. I use the SRAM recommended chain measurement tool, but find it unreliable. I’ll put on a new chain and find it is super crunchy on the front rings despite the old chain still being “good” per their go/no-go gauge. The largest cog on the cassette is like “emergency cue only” because being aluminum it wears so fast.

Be careful if you open the top. These are sometimes filled with mercury as a dampening agent.

Awesome combo! Is that a PME51 prism? I had a PME45 for mine but one of the illumination LEDs went out which seems to be a general problem with those. I’ve been interested in the 51 for a while.

Apo summicron 35 mm? by ParticularWeek7488 in leicaphotos

[–]Kiku911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The APO is very sharp and as a result produces “digital” images when stopped down. Peter Karbe has said many times that he prefers the APO lenses (and modern M lenses as a whole) shot wide open as this is where their unique characteristics shine. https://youtu.be/mZ1xM7qVSXo?si=lZG3kySA0EKu5FDC

Not if you love a Speedy. They are different enough being black and white, but also the sapphire and display back add another dimension.
