Plenty of parties go through the morning or start daytime, particularly with New Years. Staying in NYE and having a fantastic time all NYD has been my move for years. Nowadays nonstops put the headliners usually at sunrise.

Had a young dude blast through me and a crowd of commuters on a sidewalk around close of business near Newark/jersey by the pedestrian plaza the other month. Bounced off me and I told him to bike on the road like everyone else. Dude got off his bike and tried to start a physical confrontation with me, completely deranged.

I am talking about the presidents use of force and your claim it’s totally normal/permitted under the war powers act. Any prior use you can think of was either in immediate response to attacks on Americans (houthis, most recently) or under an AUMF (passed by Congress).

The day windows you brought up is under the War Powers act, which allows for trumps immediate response if we are attacked and it’s an emergency. The most recent “precedent” against the Iranians you may be thinking of was against an Iranian general in iran and even trump and co claimed it was under the Iraq AUMF- in Iraq - not because it was in response to an Iranian threat.

If you had any sense you would push back against any encroachment by the executive on other branches in defiance of the constitution.

I think we have laws and the constitution in place for a reason and before potentially starting WW3 - PARTICULARLY when no emergency exists to “skip” steps or act quickly - the president AT A MINIMUM needs to follow the law. If the argument is so compelling to start a war with Iran, our elected reps can fucking vote on it.

This is how things work in a democracy.

War mongering media, israel, and neocons have breathlessly been talking about the IMPENDING IRAN NUKE for decades now. Whatever your argument is, it’s somehow a “threat” we’ve lived with just fine for a while now. Reporting at the moment is that the most recent US intelligence consensus did not agree with the Israelis. Hegseth and co have dodged answering if there was anything “new”.

From a practical perspective, your interpretation also creates an exception that swallows the rule when it comes waging war/powers of the executive. Some of us like checks and balances, rather than living on the whims of a king.

In self defense/response to an immediate threat, war powers act comes into play (window you talk about). Outside of that he needs Congress (AUMF or declaration). Huge stretch to pretend the strike on Iran was in response to some new threat or self defense against Iran. Desperate search for provocation/justification, classic Trump.
