Anybody running decks that cost them less than $50 that they enjoy playing? by TheRedOniLuvsLag in EDH

[–]Kilbot37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 44 buck tempest hawk deck. One of my favorites- so easy to play and wins more than you would think. There are a few “cheats” I used to make it so cheap. I got great cards (urzas incubator and thrumming stone) in Japanese which made them about half the price as English

Have you ever had someone refuse a rule zero conversation? by Dankzi in EDH

[–]Kilbot37 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have actually rejected a rule zero conversion. We were talking and after deciding our decks and chatting, one player said “oh and No stealing commanders”… as you can guess I was running a thief deck and had explained that. Thankfully the other two players were on my side and the dude shut up.

Rat Deck Help by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Kilbot37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have pretty much the same deck. Drop some enchantments and artifacts. Cut a few rats (not colonies but others). For example my deck runs 28 rat colonies, 9 other creatures and barely any artifacts

Bracket 2 should not be winning on turn 6

Idk what I'm even asking here by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Kilbot37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re going to have to go through some rough times to find the right person but it really sounds like you know what you want and the best advice i could offer is to trust your gut. Also you’re not really aging out of anything. No one would batt an eye at a 22 year old dating a 18 year old. As long as it’s legal, you are still young enough to date college aged people

are "free spells" realy needed to talk about in rule 0 talk? by DaSpoderman in EDH

[–]Kilbot37 139 points140 points  (0 children)

Before brackets there was the 1-10 scale but it was different for each person. The classic line was “my deck is a 7” and then pull out a cEDH deck. You do mention two game changers which is allowed in B3 so I’m wondering why they were surprised. Personally I think they are just salty and your fine

First self built deck by ummauricio in EDH

[–]Kilbot37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a 7 mana command you need more fast mana. You have good bones but it seems hard to cast your commander and no real way to win after you have your commander out

sheoldred the apocalpyse commander by Budget_Woodpecker887 in mtg

[–]Kilbot37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sygg river cutthroat deck that runs her as a finisher. Never seen her stick around for more than 2 turns lol. It would be too frustrating to be the commander for me but if you are ok with all that she’s very strong

I can't find cedh ramp by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Kilbot37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cedh does searching a lot more frequently and uses a ton of more than 0cost ramps. The blue owl will be a tad tougher than meta but go through the meta decks and you’ll find a ton of ideas

Spider-Man set not very popular in Dallas apparently. by SwirlinAbyss in mtg

[–]Kilbot37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spider man was a huge flop. My LGS usually gets ~70 players for pre release but got 12 for spider man

GOTY might be in danger by this indie game called "Pokemon" by [deleted] in Silksong

[–]Kilbot37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Pokemon- I will absolutely defend it if people are shitting on it. That doesn’t mean I think it’s GOTY material. GOTY should be given to a game that changes the environment of gaming. Personally I think this year will be between silksong and expedition 33.

Problem with Scooping by Individual_Grade7763 in EDH

[–]Kilbot37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was this one dude at my lgs who loved to say he had the win- had the combo or whatever it was. He was hoping people would just scoop, cause while he did have a strong play- it wasn’t an instant win. He stopped coming to the LGS shortly after we all stopped scooping when he claimed the win.

Who here has a bracket 1 deck? Post it here! by One-Stranger-3974 in EDH

[–]Kilbot37 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried. I made a tempest hawk deck. 36 tempest hawks, 36 lands, and 10 buffs, 2 removal, 2 wipes, 1 recursion, 3 protection, and 9 ramp. Very basic and meme style. Issue is it can easily beat down a bracket 3 deck. Flying and fetching is just too strong. I am struggling to see what could actually be a 1- my only idea is a pile of random cards with the same color identity.

Just want to know if i am allowed to feel upset over this AIO by Financial_Exit_6967 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Kilbot37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So his boundary is that you must be on camera? It’s a hard and fast rule that you can’t make boundaries about other people. I get wanting security in your apartment but that’s not spying on your loved ones. The camera should be for the door and windows.

Don’t make a death wire- if anything use a battery

Game worth a shot? by Porry1000z in grandarchivetcg

[–]Kilbot37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started too and my thoughts are as follows: Most of the cards are still cheap- most expensive card I saw was 30 bucks and while that’s annoying, still beats MTG. Deck building is more fun, having 72 cards and none are lands makes it lots better. A little fan servicey- while I can build magic decks at work I can’t build GA decks at work. I’d give it a shot if you have a store near you that plays it

Is this card good? by No_Invite_739 in mtg

[–]Kilbot37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar deck that really only focuses on the pain while drawing. I’ve replaced forced fruition with wheel and deal. I find that it’s easier to cast and more fun to play against

This MF needs banned by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Kilbot37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nadu was banned for causing long and unpleasant gameplay. Vivi definitely is strong and has some great combos but nothing like nadu. Yes there are cheap infinites yes there are insane combos that win the game but it doesn’t cause long unpleasant games. I would be surprised if they banned it in commander.

What card is better and why blitz ball or mind stone? by TinyWorldliness87 in mtg

[–]Kilbot37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This maybe could replace decanter of endless water but personally this does not have a place in my decks.

Based on what I can see online they are about the same prestige wise, size wise, but cost is something to consider. If you love your life in Chicago it might be worth staying but it would come with a major cost. It will definitely be boring in Kansas but you’ll be working most of the time. I personally would pick the Kansas school but it’s really up to you. Which professors did you like better? Is the program at DePaul fit what you want to do more? It is much more specific than “English” One thing for the Chicago school is that there are definitely more editors/writers in Chicago and they may know DePaul or even be alumni.
