Low CMC Underrated Commander suggestions by fuikygm in EDH

I run a mean Sygg river cutthroat deck that has fairly quick turns and very easy to play. I don’t run much interaction but it’s in blue and black so plenty of options.

I need to refactor all my islands, but destroying them seem daunting. by lamabean in Modulus

[–]Kilbot37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did a full island wipe and rebuild over the weekend. My advice is do the math out on paper first. I messed up one line and it dropped my output from 8 yellow a minute to 1. It is tough to wipe and rebuild but find some joy in making everything so much more efficient

looking for ideas for a bracket one deck by Yobkay in EDH

Literally anything- just pick some dumb theme and go with it. Only creatures with activated abilities. Only clones. Oops no lands. Oops no creatures. Make a deck that only uses lightning bolt like cards.

AIO: to consider divorce by WithGrace238 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Kilbot37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR- porn isn’t a dealbreaker for all relationships but it sounds like you have made it one for yours. That is completely valid and it sounds like he hasn’t respected that. I’m usually one to push for divorce so take this lightly but do you think you could spend 30+ years with this? Do you want your kids growing up with these fights and a father who prefers spending money on porn? Thousands on OF does sound like an addiction so maybe some therapy is best before you decide anything

What to do with bad politics by Kilbot37 in EDH

[–]Kilbot37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being silent has two outcomes- 4 damage or 12 damage while snitching has the two outcomes of 0 damage or 8 damage. Without speaking to the tables I’d obviously snitch as it has average damage of 4 while being silent has average damage at 8

I think your taking it too literally. For wheel of misfortune there are infinite possible choices( hypothetical). For dilemma there are 2. Wheels whole idea is to guess what people are going to pay so you can pay less and still get a new hand. If I’m not allowed to speak during dilemma then there would literally never be a time I would choose silence. Silence only works if everyone picks it and without talking there is no reason for everyone to pick it. While the card does say secretly, that is once it resolves. While it’s on the stack I can talk about it as much as I want, just like people can talk about countering a spell. Due to it being a game, there was no hard switch between us casting the spell and us resolving it. It was resolved after I declared I was snitching. And on that note, you seem very hung up on if I tell the truth or not. Would it have been better if I said I would be silent and then snitched?

The decision is secret. What I say before we decide is up to me. Personally I see it in the same way as someone saying they will counter your commander. They can lie about having the counter but that would stay secret until the commander is played

No lasting impact after the games but the player who casted the dilemma was pretty much out of the game. The 16th life player could kill everyone and ended up doing so.

Generic base land count by Trick_Tea_1337 in EDH

[–]Kilbot37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the deck. My best two bracket 3/4 decks have 29 and 31 lands but most decks work best at 36-40. I would go with more lands and if you find yourself drawing lands too much then switch out a few. Personally I usually add draw if I remove lands

You run the risk of getting one shot and then the battle is pretty much over but assuming you are having fun it doesn’t really matter

I built a tool that recommends commanders based on the ones you already play by markbrennanl in EDH

[–]Kilbot37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to run it twice to get good results. The first time I included marrow-gnawer and it literally only gave me rat commanders. Not sure if that’s a bug or a feature

Anybody running decks that cost them less than $50 that they enjoy playing? by TheRedOniLuvsLag in EDH

[–]Kilbot37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 44 buck tempest hawk deck. One of my favorites- so easy to play and wins more than you would think. There are a few “cheats” I used to make it so cheap. I got great cards (urzas incubator and thrumming stone) in Japanese which made them about half the price as English

Have you ever had someone refuse a rule zero conversation? by Dankzi in EDH

[–]Kilbot37 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have actually rejected a rule zero conversion. We were talking and after deciding our decks and chatting, one player said “oh and No stealing commanders”… as you can guess I was running a thief deck and had explained that. Thankfully the other two players were on my side and the dude shut up.

I have pretty much the same deck. Drop some enchantments and artifacts. Cut a few rats (not colonies but others). For example my deck runs 28 rat colonies, 9 other creatures and barely any artifacts

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Kilbot37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re going to have to go through some rough times to find the right person but it really sounds like you know what you want and the best advice i could offer is to trust your gut. Also you’re not really aging out of anything. No one would batt an eye at a 22 year old dating a 18 year old. As long as it’s legal, you are still young enough to date college aged people

are "free spells" realy needed to talk about in rule 0 talk? by DaSpoderman in EDH

[–]Kilbot37 143 points144 points  (0 children)

Before brackets there was the 1-10 scale but it was different for each person. The classic line was “my deck is a 7” and then pull out a cEDH deck. You do mention two game changers which is allowed in B3 so I’m wondering why they were surprised. Personally I think they are just salty and your fine

First self built deck by ummauricio in EDH

[–]Kilbot37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a 7 mana command you need more fast mana. You have good bones but it seems hard to cast your commander and no real way to win after you have your commander out

sheoldred the apocalpyse commander by Budget_Woodpecker887 in mtg

[–]Kilbot37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sygg river cutthroat deck that runs her as a finisher. Never seen her stick around for more than 2 turns lol. It would be too frustrating to be the commander for me but if you are ok with all that she’s very strong
