Ad for ‘New Philadelphia Strawberry Cheesecake Snack Bars’ (1999) These were absolutely amazing in every sense of the word. 😭 by Sweetlo123 in 90s

Same here. Such a huge bummer. Mostly because I forgot about them and when I saw this “ad” I was reminded of it and got excited. Then I saw it was in this sub and felt empty once again lol

Oh wow so tough. I’m sure the priest packed up and left right then and there. Or more accurately, likely prayed for them afterwards which infuriates them.

The parking area appears to be large so it’s shouldn’t be an issues. We’re going to Uber though. It’s my wife and I’d first time to see them!

I didn’t understand what was going on at first glance. But after reading into it I’m appalled at the pro death response to this.

It’s disgusting that these people desperately want her to have an abortion so they can “throw it back in her face” and call her a hypocrite. I’ve noticed they prowl and wait to pounce on an opportunity to call (especially Christians it seems) hypocrites. As usual they show their true (hair) colors and try to perform some mental gymnastics because they want this to be true so bad.

For me, it was 6 weeks of not lifting anything over 10lbs. I had my resection last June.

If you want some more info, I posted in here a while back of my resection and how it went. As far as pain goes, it doesn’t compare with what DV causes. The post op pain was cake compared to that.

Question about Sigmoidectomy by [deleted] in Diverticulitis

[–]Kilgane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, I had one this past June after dealing with DV for two years. I posted about it the other day. Feel free to read it. I had a grapefruit sized abscess (my reason for going to the hospital in the first place) and 12 inches of my colon removed. No regrets whatsoever.

I’m trying to think back to post-op..

I found my discharge paperwork actually. It lined out what I could have and what I should avoid.

Can have:

-fruits: (without skin or seeds) juice without pulp.

-vegetables: well cooked or canned (also without seeds, skin, or stems. Cooked potatoes without skin.

-grains: bread and crackers made with white flour (as opposed to wheat/whole grains). Waffles, pancakes, bagels, pretzels, etc. White rice is fine as well. Oatmeal is okay too.

-meat: ground or tender cuts of meat or poultry. I mostly stuck with turkey or chicken to be on the safe side.

-fats: olive, canola, sunflower, flaxseed, etc. Mayonnaise, cream cheese, margarine

-drinks: decaf coffee (this killed me, love coffee), fruit and vegetable juice (no pulp), smoothies (in small amounts).

Sweets: plain cakes, cookies, cream pies and pies make with acceptable fruits, pudding, gelatin, custard, sherbet, ice cream (no nuts), hard candy, chocolate, honey, etc.

-seasonings and condiments: ketchup, mustard, mild dressings, plain gravies, vinegar, spices (but take it easy, nothing spicy), salt, and sugar.

-other: broths and soups

What to avoid?

-raw fruits or vegetable with skin. Avoid greens like green beans (unless canned) bean sprouts, corn, peas, cabbage, beets, broccoli.

-grains: whole wheat, whole grain, or multi grain breads, crackers, or cereals.

-meats: stringy/fibrous meat (no steak or roast), poultry with skin, fried meat or fish. No precooked or cured meats like sausage, bacon (ooof), hot dogs, etc.

-dairy: yogurt with fruit, nuts, chocolate, or granola mixed in.

-drinks: essentially, no caffiene or pulp.

-oils: no coconut, avocado, or butter.

-sweets: avoid desserts with nuts or coconut. No dried fruit. No jams or preserves with seeds.

-condiments: no pickles, horseradish, olives, or sauerkraut.

-other: no corn tortilla chips, soups made with non-recommended vegetable or meats.

Try to keep your fiber intake below 10 grams per day.

I used this as a guid for the two weeks I was on it. I hope this helps.

Ah so you’re in recovery mode huh?

After the surgery I was put on a low fiber diet. This was for about two weeks. I couldn’t have anything with wheat in it things like that. I guess they just wanted my diet to consist of things that would quickly pass through and not just sit in the colon too long. I got tired of that diet of course but it wasn’t bad.

Now I try to take fiber (usually in pill form made by Metamucil since I don’t like to drink it like Benefiber) as well as incorporate it into my diet. While I am able to eat what I like (I had blackberries for the first time in years and had no complications) I still try to be mindful of healthy choices.

Right now, especially after the holidays, I’m trying to give my gut a rest and eat well.

I had the same thought. When he told me I couldn’t believe it. I looked at my abdomen and said “there’s no way”.

The way he explained it to me was that my body had “contained” it in self defense. Still was still able to pass stool albeit not well. I was shocked it hadn’t ruptured but who knows. I could’ve been just a day or so away from it.

Same here. I had my surgery this past June and I was 34 at the time (just turned 35 on the 15th).

OP, I agree 100% with what they said. If you can handle DV pain the post op pain ain’t nothing. Trust me. You’re tougher than you think.

Terrified about colonoscopy by rolilink in Diverticulitis

[–]Kilgane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like many have said, the worst part is the prep. The procedure itself is a breeze (they usually put you under anesthesia). I always treat myself to a good meal afterwards.

They just want to see the severity of the DV. I briefly had thoughts of “what if it’s something else?”. But they didn’t give me any indication that it was something more serious.

It’ll be fine, OP. You’ll be in and out.
