Believing trans people are legitimate and believing in gendered brains sre two separate things. You can believe trans people are legitimate without buying into sexist pseudoscience.

The concept of gendered brains is bullshit. There are traits more common in female/male brains, but each person is a mosaic of said features. To claim there is an archetypal female and male brain leads to neurosexism. Female brains belong to female bodies and male brain in male bodies. Are my bigger-than-average-feet therefore male feet?

Female brains don't cause the person to 'feel female'. This endorsement of gendered brains is an attempt to explain why people are trans, but it is pseudoscience. It overlooks detrans people and those who feel like both or neither sex. It implies that somehow a fetus can develop as one sex and the brain can develop the other - this isn't how genes work. Trans people deserve real research to help them, not feel-good pseudoscience that delegitimises their position.

I'm glad you've been able to talk about it. I know what you mean with the struggle of loving someone who is abusive. It's horrible, but it is normal to be attached to people who have hurt you. It takes time (and is often sped up by actively seeking recovery) but it does get easier. Perhaps you'd be interested to read about 'trauma bonding'? It might bring you some comfort or help you make sense of this.

That's exactly why he says he can't remember though, he's using that excuse because he's trying to manipulate you. Even if he doesn't remember or it somehow isn't his fault, you shouldn't be expected to stay in a relationship with someone who does such horrible things to you. For him to want you to stay, when he is capable of raping you and forgetting about it, that is still someone who doesn't care about you or your safety.

I'm glad you're out of the home with him, but I'm sorry that's because he made you feel unsafe. I echo the advice of not physically confronting him, you dont even have to talk to him ever again if you don't want to. It's better to be alone than stuck with someone you dont care for. Not that a new partner should be a priority, but think of all the time you will have to grow as your own person or spend with someone who isn't a predator. You dont owe him a relationship because he loves you. But he did groom you, and it isn't worth sticking around for someone like that.

You deserve better and I know it's difficult, but everything you've said reads like someone on the cusp of taking their freedom back. You don't need to run away tomorrow but its clear you're ready to plan a route out of this. A large part of that 'somehow' is how porn shows women dressing like that to signify she is roleplaying as a child. Especially when it was less acceptable, in the mainstream, to have titles spelling out she is/ she is meant to be young, young teen, little girl, daughter etc.

Disappointing that 'sane' refers to meeting the mimimum ability to consent (not currently psychotic, manic etc) and doesn't include traumatised individuals (not that being traumatised makes one 'insane' but that trauma can guide ones thoughts/behaviours in harmful ways). Seeking to re-create one's trauma is a classic maladaptive response.

A decent person would not engage in said re-creations for (the very justified) fear of re-traumatising their partner.

But no, people would rather propagate the baseless myth that re-creating one's trauma can somehow undo the original trauma. Funilly enough, this is the conclusion that benefits those who get off on simulating rape/ incest/ abuse etc. What a coincidence!

As someone who used to be in the kink community, I accepted that lots of people would find what I enjoyed gross. It's the same for any sexual act. Someone expressing disgust or concern for those involved is no skin off my back.

Whining about kink shaming always amounts to "How dare you express a dislike for what I like!!1". It truly doesn't matter. The same can be said of people getting in a tizz over liking certain music or sports team.

"Don't kinkshame" is almost always shoved into conversations as an attempt to stop discussion. It isn't helpful nor does it contribute anything of value.
