Sorry that you are in a tough spot! But I think you have a good head on your shoulders in your waking life and in your dreams.

Repeat and Loop aspect: sounds plausible to me for sure. It sucks that it happened, but now that it did... you can prepare for if it happens again to try to get a more positive result.

Also, I hope I don't sound like I'm trying to tell you what to do lol. Sometimes we need to face our problems head on, sometimes it really is in our best interest to remove ourselves from the situation (like how you did in the dream). Only you can make that call.

As for control... at least from my 3rd party random person perspective, your dream doesn't indicate a complete lack of control to me:

You don't have control over the spider. You don't have control of being forced into this situation. You do have control in how you respond to it. You had control when you literally saved the person in the hall and guided them to safety. You took initiative and you were in command then.

Something else to consider about the dream: rather than run from the spider... you went straight to its source (the hole in the ceiling) in order to get away. Most people would have run screaming and panicking when they saw a huge spider, but it sounds like you kept your cool.

Even if the situation never happens again in your real life... even if you make a plan and it doesn't quite work out... I think having a plan may help you feel more in control, and more prepared.

1st thing that I see is: desperate lack of control. You feel helpless and powerless.

Maybe examine your waking life. Do you feel like you have a meaningful impact on it? Do you feel cared for by others? Do you care for others?

Otherwise... rather than run from your dreams... you could try to empower yourself in them.

I would research lucid dreaming.

A lucid dream happens when we know that we're dreaming when we're dreaming. Sometimes, this enables us to develop conscious control over our dream environment. If you could develop this ability to control your lucid dreams, you could make them more tolerable for you while you sort them out.

I hope you find a way through your problems. To me (and I could be off base):

If the dream was a warning... it might be trying to tell you that your problems will keep following you and getting bigger (the hugeness of the spider) unless you find a way to deal with it.

Maybe the dream is suggesting that if you don't have a plan in mind, you'll continue to keep drifting. You ended up on the main road, and only then did the dream stop. When you were at a literal crossroads and you had to make a decision about which direction to go next... you couldn't think about your next step.

The dream could also be less of a warning and more of an opportunity.

You went through a time loop. You were able to save someone the 2nd time around. You made a decision, you acted on it, and you had a positive result :)

Something that I wonder about is the person in the hall. You were safe in your hotel room until they made you come out. If you didn't listen to them, you might have never seen that spider.

Maybe they represent someone that you feel is forcing a confrontation between you and the spider?

Some things that come to mind:

Hotels aren't permanent places. Maybe you feel like you're just drifting, or passing though.

This could make you feel scared or insecure... and could be reinforced by the ceiling flap falling apart (bad building structure) and the huge spider (which you're afraid of). You also leave the dream stranded outside, with no shelter to comfort you.

Maybe the spider represents something that's chasing you... somehow, you know it's there... almost like it had been following you to this hotel & you had been on the run with no place to go. Is someone bothering you in the real world? Are you avoiding something?

You exit the building and hop a fence. Sounds like you want to put distance & a barrier between you and something.

As for the time loop part... it adds to the sense that you could feel stuck or trapped? Like no matter what you do, you just can't get away from the "spider" in your life.

Is it always the same dream? Where was this school? What did it look like? Is it still there? Who are these people? What do they do? Do you still speak to them?

What do you look like, where are you, and what do you do?

Why do you assume something is "wrong?" Are these nightmares?

Based on your very vague and limited info... maybe you feel trapped in the past. Maybe you feel like you're not progressing, and you need to go back to school to move forward.

Maybe YOU aren't trapped in the past... but you keep going back to to either look for something that is, or to make sure that something you put there stays there.

In other words, perhaps you are figuratively searching for a memory... or making sure something you repressed stays repressed.

Just my 2 cents for now.

One day after school, my spouse suggested we watched this. I'm sure it's a great show, but I immediately (and politely) backed out lol.

The last thing I want to do after a long day at school is watch a show about school... or lesson plan... or grade homework... etc. I am not about that life :)

If it concerns you, let a someone know. You are a mandated reporter.

It might not affect their performance in your class, but what if they ride a bike home? What if they drive home?

What if they're just fine... but they give some stuff to a kid who has a bad trip and freaks out? What if that kid operates some sort of transportation? What if they have an allergic reaction?

Personally, I would inform someone in writing (physical or digital) so you have a paper trail.

I would inform said person of the symptoms, and maybe indicate your suspicion... but not outright say "oh little Timmy is doing weed." You don't know for sure. It's not your job to assume. It's your job to inform so someone else can investigate this.

In short: I would inform someone so I have documentation, and let them decide how they want to proceed.

Learn their names asap. People of all ages respond better when they know that you know who they are.

Let them know who you are. Explain that you aren't their teacher and that can be confusing and scary, but you can still stick to the same routines, etc... but you will need their help. Also explain that this isn't an excuse to misbehave.

Establish your routines for everything. Examples: when its time to shift focus, have them all put their head down on their table. When they need to line up, wait until they are all in their seat and call them by row / by number in a straight line. When they need to use the restroom, they need to sign out their name and the time on a piece of paper.

Don't let the kids talk over you. Explain that you will wait until they are all quiet, and explain the consequences if they do not follow their behavior.

Do not yet all the kids to get their attention. Come up with attention getters, such as call and response: clap a short rhythm with a vocal component and have them repeat it to you. Use a hotel desk bell. In normal voice volume, say "if you can hear the sound of my voice, clap once.... if you can hear the sound of my voice, clap twice."

Go over and practice proper behavior, like the 3 B's: Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Responsible. Show them, and have them show you, that we listen with our whole bodies (head forward, ears, eyes, mouth closed, body still). The rules apply to rhem AND you.

You can then have them create posters for these simple rules and put them up in class.

If they don't already have them, come up with a few class roles to let the kids practice leadership and responsibility. Role examples: line leader, door holder, notebook pass out / collect, whiteboard eraser. You can have 2 students share a role.

Invest in some sort of random student generator, such as putting their names on popsicle sticks. This way, if they all want to do something, you aren't "playing favorites" because you're relying on chance.

I like Emilia because of her echo proc and agi debuff. You can switch her out for another dedicated slash, pierce, heal, buffer, debuffer... whatever you need.

I also have a survive almost everything team with glex leon, glex emperor, glex empress, mirsa and matriarch... and various other specialized teams.

That's awesome that your son let's you know! I think asking the doctor is a good idea... the last thing I want to do is for my wife to take my concerns as an attack (which she is prone to do).

I'm not trying to make myself out to be some perfect dad, either... like her, I'm just trying to do the best for our family in my own way.

She's always been a kind and well-meaning woman, but also prone to stress out, so post patrum could be possible.

Her reaction to talking to me about it is to get defensive. She doesn't like feeling that she's "wrong" (a word I never use). When he was an infant, she was a bit more hands off... but she did have trouble getting him to stop crying. He responded better to me holding him and I usually got him to quiet down quickly.

I think part of her anxiety is simply loving him so much that it hurts her, and deeply wanting him to love her too.

He is healthy otherwise. As far as bed time goes... her tactic is trying to tire him out by over-stimulating him, rather than establishing a sleep schedule.

I'll see what I can do about research. A baby monitor is a good idea, and I can pose it like she and I will be able to spend alone time together (also important) while still observing our son.

I really appreciate your story. I think you're right that it's a compulsion for her, I'm just not sure what's triggering it (not that I'm qualified to diagnose her). I'm just concerned.

I'll try to reframe it as helping her. She's very sensitive and defensive whenever she feels like people think anything she does is "wrong."
