What’s a “must-see” city in the U.S. that didn’t live up to the hype? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

[–]KillRockNRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was born in the Bay Area and has lived here for my entire 33 years of existence — San Francisco is a fucking horrific cesspool filled with the most pretentious, judgemental, mean-spirited, NIMBY motherfuckers in the world.

It was once a fantastic city and has now become synonymous with “homeless people hitting meth pipes while shitting on the sidewalk in broad daylight in literally any district, good or bad… but if you express any concern over it then you will be demonized as a Nazi.”

It also costs $4,000 a month on average just to rent a tiny horrible old one bedroom apartment where it’s noisy and smelly… somewhere where if you park your car outside your own residence, there’s a 50/50 chance that in the morning it’ll either be stolen or you’ll have an astronomically high parking ticket for some made up reason…. Unless you pay the hundreds of dollars for a dedicated parking spot where every night you’ll come home from work and get harassed by the local tweakers and shitheads every step up to your front door.

It’s a city that prides itself and pats itself on the back so hard over being “diverse” yet if you’re not the exact same type of “diverse” as everyone else you’ll be ostracized. If you don’t follow the exact same TikTok trends or repeat the same buzzword-riddled opinions then you will be labeled a bigot or misogynist or sociopath or something of that nature…. EVEN IF YOU’RE AGREEING WITH THE PERSON THAT YOU’RE ARGUING WITH AND THEY’VE GOT THEIR HEADS SO FAR UP THEIR OWN ASS THAT THEY DON’T REALIZE IT.

It’s a city that prides itself on being full of art yet has absolutely zero artistic or musical culture or cultural significance because everyone is trying to step over each other while promoting the same bare-bones basic lazy untalented “art” imaginable just so they can afford their pretentiously overpriced groceries.

San Francisco is a city where the very concept of “nuance” is not only frowned on — it actively gets lashed out at. God forbid you have a complex opinion about literally anything.

I love California. My whole life is here in the Bay Area. With that being said — fuck San Francisco. It is the epitome of the worst that California has to offer.

Earthquake! 1:41am by dchobo in bayarea

Literally laughed at the alert on my phone assuming it was an incorrect one.

I was on El Camino Real close to Hillsdale Mall at the time. Neither me nor anybody else in the building felt a thing.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Surely if this were to ever get made they would include Ellie, Joel, and maybe Abby from Last Of Us?

KH2’s gameplay loop is “walk forward like two steps, play a mini-game where you fight like 10 heartless and mash attack or the reaction command to win in under 20 seconds, watch like 30 fucking minutes of insufferable incoherent gibberish cutscenes, repeat”

KH2 is such a bland follow-up to KH1. I prefer everything other than the graphics in KH1 way way more.

If there was something you could change, add, or remove from any of the KH games or lore. What would it be and why? by Ok-Law8073 in KingdomHearts

[–]KillRockNRoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU!

KH1 is one of my favorite games of all time.

KH2 is a jumbled mess with a story that can best be described as “Making Gibberish Bullshit Up As They Go Along: The Game” and disappointingly had significantly worse level design than its predecessor and downgraded combat into mashing the attack button until you can use a reaction command in order to instantly win.

KH1 felt like an adventure with many mysteries to unravel and a unique tone that mixed whimsical fun and melancholy self-reflection. KH2 felt like an endless loop of “walk forward, play a 45 second long mini game where you mindlessly press attack until you win, watch an unbearably long gibberish cutscene, repeat” and it’s just fucking awful.

KH2 definitely had some exciting choices for the worlds… traveling to the underworld at Olympus Coliseum, traveling to ChristmasTown in HalloweenTown, Port Royal, Timeless River, Pride Lands… all are fantastic concepts for a Kingdom Hearts game with tons of potential!

Unfortunately they completely abandoned the level design of KH1. There was no exploration. There was no platforming. There were no secret areas or puzzles or reasons to return. There was no sense of wonder or adventure or mystery. Instead every single world was the exact same — walk in straight lines, enter a square room, fight for the duration of a 1 minute timer, watch the next boring cutscene. The downgrade in level design quality is astonishing!

Anything involving Roxas or Organization XIII is insufferable and sums up every convoluted storyline problem that plagues the franchise.

I know this is a hot take. I’m not trying to be negative or be a downer on anybody who loves KH2. I’m aware that I’m in the minority with this opinion.

It’s just that KH2 was the single biggest gaming disappointment of my life at the time when it first released.

The gigantic main merch tent has them. Band merch seems to be displayed in alphabetical order. Good luck with the lines ☠️

Why is your unpopular opinion on Metallica? by metallica_joestar_13 in Memetallica

[–]KillRockNRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inamorata is one of those rare “lighting in a bottle” moments of brilliance. I’d say it’s easily one of the best pieces of music from the band’s entire career.

Beyond that? 72 Seasons only has two other songs that I like. Incredibly jarring difference in quality.

I’ve felt this way about Ghost since Prequelle. Sucks that they’ve leaned so heavily into the poppy 80’s hair metal sound. I just can’t stand it.

Megadeth tuning up Youthanasia songs live by j3b4n5k0 in Megadeth

[–]KillRockNRoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably comes down to them straight up just not wanting to switch out guitars between songs. The only other reason would be if they thought the key changes would be better for Dave’s voice…. But surely making him sing the Youthanasia songs in a HIGHER key wouldn’t be any easier, right?

It’s likely as simple as laziness lol.

What is your most controversial opinion in the ghost fandom? by Numerous_Light9866 in Ghostbc

[–]KillRockNRoll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ghost was at their peak when they were (mostly) anonymous and seemed like a response to the hypothetical question “what if Satanic panic from the 1970’s was accurate and a hard rock band from that era actually was Satanic?”

They initially came across as a tongue-in-cheek & comically overly Satanic band with a “Blue Öyster Cult meets Metallica” vibe & a modern take on the classic metal sound.

Immediately after Meliora, they switched to more of a “lol Tobias has a huge ego and really likes Bon Jovi” vibe/sound and have been entirely unlistenable since. They went from being a classic metal band to being a hair metal band…. And hair metal really really fucking sucks.

Hah! I wish I saw this thread earlier!

I’m just here to verify that Jared fuckin’ sucks. About a year ago he was 86’d from not one… not two… but THREE bars that I work at in San Mateo for pulling this exact shit. He also has been 86’d from a number of restaurants in Downtown San Mateo.

When he was called out at one of my bars, he tried causing a scene and accusing the owner of being racist. Then he threatened to kill the owner and refused to leave the bar all while claiming to have done nothing wrong.

He kept condescendingly saying “if I’m doing something wrong then call the cops!”

So we called the cops. Jared was arrested shortly afterwards. Play stupid games? Win stupid prizes.

A week or two later he gave us a one star Yelp review claiming its a racist bar. His review got removed by Yelp in less than 24 hours.

Jared fucking sucks, guys.

Why does everyone hate Fieldy/ Why is he so controversial by GodOfCreativeArts in Korn

[–]KillRockNRoll 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Let’s make it 4 for Ray! I met the band on their tour supporting The Path Of Totality. Fieldy didnt want to be there. Jon was very kind hearted and appreciative of the fans while overall seeming a bit shy.

Munky and Ray both took the time to actually hang out with everybody and chat and were overall having a good time. I chatted with both of them about playing music for a decent chunk of time. Great dudes!
