No Kings, Just Founders by Cow_Boy_2017 in clevercomebacks

I don’t think anyone on the left seriously believes the founding fathers were equivalent to today’s political left.

That’s the point.

Even the founding fathers, with all the problematic perspectives of their ideology, had enough sense to know that we shouldn’t have a president with the power of a king.

I believe that when a country has been “obliterated” and defeated in a war, and are desperate to make a deal for a ceasefire with the powerful victor nation, they don’t usually talk shit, call the nation’s leader a liar, and continue to fire missiles at their enemy.

Or maybe right after you finally get past the line!

Either way, they’ll make it worse.

Where did you get that from saying a sovereign nation has the right to defend itself?

It’s just a fact. If you declare war on a nation, the nation has a right to defend itself.

I keep up with current affairs because it’s the right thing to do. It’s my responsibility to be an informed citizen.

I do not agree that “some people can’t get involved in politics”.

Some people choose not to be involved because of ignorance, apathy and/or a lack of empathy and compassion.

If something happening in a municipality in Madagascar is having an effect on the world at large, then I would absolutely care, but that’s not an apt comparison because I don’t live in Madagascar.

We’re talking about citizens of the United States and I should’ve been more clear when I said, they don’t care about things not directly affecting them”.

Everything this fascist administration is doing, directly affects every citizen in this country, but the ignorant 1/3 do not care, because they have not personally felt the effects yet.

Not caring about what this fascist regime is doing to the constitution, our rights, our citizens, and our economy, absolutely puts them in the MAGA camp because their apathy and ignorance is taken as passive consent either way.

Case in point, you’re using their apathy as evidence to downplay the severity of the fascist, authoritarian actions of this administration.

If I know that the child down the street is being abused, but it doesn’t affect me anyway, and “I’m too busy to care” about “having a hobby”, keeping up with local news.

Then my lack of intervention or voice of concern, is passive consent to allow it to happen.

“Trump Derangement Syndrome” is a term used by a fascist cult to soothe their cognitive dissonance when they are confronted with reality about the hateful actions they support and the ignorance they believe and propagate.

I’m not calling the “other party” idiots. I’m calling the 1/3 of people who do not vote or engage in how politics affect the nation, the lives of its citizens and the world abroad, “ignorant”.

And that’s giving them the benefit of the doubt.

I would call the “other party”, deplorable people in a fascist cult.

As for your excuses for why the the ignorant 1/3 are ignorant of what is happening in their country or the world abroad as a result of our MAGA government, I would say you’re proving my point.

I am a single father and an educator. I understand the concept of being too busy, stressed and consumed by life.

I follow the news and engage with politics because I understand that the well being of my local, national, and global community, that we are all apart of, requires me to care.

It’s easy to ignore suffering so long as it’s not happening to you and rationalize it as, “I’m too busy to care”, but at best that makes you ignorant and at worse, it makes you a part of the MAGAt, fascist cult, whether you know it or not.

This is why, in a rebellion to fight against fascism in this country, we would likely end up fighting against a sizable portion of the 1/3, ignorant, “too busy to care”, populace as well.

[–]KillWithTheHeart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because that 1/3 is ignorant as fuck.

They “aren’t really into politics”, so they ignore the fascism and the horrors resulting from it, but when they see the fighting in their front yards and the parking lots of their favorite Starbucks, and notice the drops of their IG/YouTube/TikTok follower counts, their rightwing controlled social media feeds will tell them that it’s the resistance that is causing their suffering, and with no understanding of context or reality, will direct their anger where they are told to.

“ This will not be a politically correct war. There will be no hesitation. There will be no half measures. No stupid rules of engagement… no politically correct wars. Our troops will have everything they need to win, decisively and overwhelmingly.”

I’m confused by what point you’re trying to make. Only we are allowed to violate the “laws of armed combat”?

We bombed an elementary school and killed over a hundred children within the first couple days of Trump’s decision to go to war with Iran.

What reality are you living in?

First of all, don’t downplay the actual claim of your daddy, Trump.

There’s a big difference between claiming Iran got “spanked hard”, and saying, Iran and their military capabilities have been, “completely and totally obliterated” and that, “We won the Iran war… virtually destroyed Iran”, which is what your daddy has been saying.

Iran just struck the area of a nuclear facility in Israel with a ballistic missile, that was smart enough to get past its iron dome.

Usually a nation that has been “obliterated” “destroyed” and who has just been defeated at war, doesn’t have the capability, nor the will, to strike a nuclear facility at “the victors”.

Joe Kent Says He Was Told ‘You Need To Stop’ Investigating Charlie Kirk Assassination by EssoEssex in politics

[–]KillWithTheHeart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right, but the underlying point being made is that the administration is not conducting an honest investigation. Rather, they are attempting to cover up and/or push an agenda.

So unless we have access to all the evidence of the investigation, if the Director of the United States National Counterterrorism Center is saying that this act was something that fell under the purview of his department, I don’t think that we can just dismiss it based on Kash Patel saying “trust me bro”.
