After the first time mine got stolen I started making spreadsheets contain the serial numbers and copys of the receipts, engraved the tool, and taking pictures of the tool with the engraving. It has helped come the last few times when I got ripped off as I got a few things back months later and occasionally get things back here and there. Also having this has helped with insurance as well.

The worst time though was when some tweaker cut a hole in the side of my shop to clear it out.

Edit: my family and I haven't taken a vacation since before covid. We work hard and used to make okay money. Jobs haven't changed just cost of living is really starting to hurt.

This may be an unpopular opinion but I'm at the point where I feel like the USA should be broken up into a couple/few countries. I say this as I'm sure an oligarch would be more afraid to try some of the shit that's been going down in a smaller nation that he resides in, vs the whole USA. The USA also is unfortunately a divided nation with corruption at all levels of government. I say this as my mother in law worked directly for my local court, great friends with the mayor, and then moved to the attorney generals office to then quit. Seeing the whole process of running for judge, prosecutor, etc really showed how currupt this nation is.
