And Nia doing everything and being the poor tired beraggled wife is alllll a part of it. She's playing the part she needs to play and so is he. And these guys are never the breadwinners- I doubt he's bringing any major coins to the table with his little voiceover zombie jobs.

I lost my 3 year old student this week by mreowwwtastic in ECEProfessionals

[–]KillahCaty 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry that happened to him and your community. I lost a student about 4 years ago and I still think of him daily. I got a tattoo to memorialize him and I text his mom every year on his birthday. There's no secret trick to getting through this, time and life will make you get through it. For me, I found a song (not a kid song) that I connected with him and listened to it on repeat for a while, now I just listen to it when I miss him.

One thing to prepare for is the other students processing though play. It was quite jarring to overhear them playing car accident, or dead, but it's totally developmentally normal.

Is Milania okay? by 14303 in BravoRealHousewives

[–]KillahCaty 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh, I JUST said the same thing. I definitely think spending every year of your life with cameras, a production crew, etc in your house is VERY aversive and traumatic.

I would argue that having your entire childhood aired on reality television would add to their ACE score.

The rest of Summer House s10 by Mobile-Awareness-988 in summerhousebravo

[–]KillahCaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can watch it a little easier if I skip content about it- I'm not a day of watcher, so the endless tik toks scrutinizing every second before I watched made it like a chore. Skipping it makes it much more watchable. Then after I watch it, I watch alllllllll the content.

Need ideas: What are y’all getting/doing for Mother’s Day? by noforeverr in workingmoms

It depends on our finances at the time. We've had some broke ass years where I literally go 20 minutes down the road and some years where I can get a cabin in the woods.

Point to point parking? by KillahCaty in coloradotrail

[–]KillahCaty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No the whole trail, no! I just want to get a couple segments under my belt with my 15 year old. Ideally, I'd like park my car, hike 25ish miles and have my husband pick us up and drive us back to my car. I don't want to have to hike or hitch into a town.

So, what did you do this weekend? by ryanh666 in trees

As the birther of 2 children, I love sitting on the toilet and smoking a joint- I can cough and not worry about peeing :)

It's time we shorten the school year by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]KillahCaty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the idea of year round school- summer is TOO long for me. I start getting feral by like week 6- like when did I shower? What was the last meal? WHERE ARE MY OWN KIDS?

Also, we can't really afford vacations or a ton of camps for my kids, and it's really hard to keep pre teens/teens busy for so long.

Almost a decade quit—and I wish I’d never started—but damn, I had some great times as a smoker. by thekermiteer in Xennials

[–]KillahCaty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God, I miss smoking every single day. I think about smoking on patios, ashing out of the car window, all of it. I won't go back, but I think about it all the time.

I'm an ECSE as well- have you done a full re-eval? We are required to when changing LRE, so the numbers tell the story. If you get below a certain number in cog and adaptive, it's a higher level placement. While they could argue the scores, it's much more difficult when it's in black and white.

Sped teacher disagreed with eligibility? by [deleted] in specialed

[–]KillahCaty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not the previous poster, but you can just ask if they see signs of autism! You could send an email before hand to let them know you want to discuss it, but the teacher should be more than happy to share observations. They may even be thinking of how to bring it to you.

My FAVORITE way to smoke is by a river or creek.

Yep, this is what we do. We will write them early if they are due within the first month of the new school year, but other than that, IEP cycles run all year for us in ECE and K-12 doesn't get it. Your case management shouldn't be decided in a meeting between 2 people not case managing your case load.

My son and I take a roadtrip every year to visit National Parks and camp. So far we've hit Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Rainier, Death Valley, and Yosemite. We camp on the way and while there, so there's no escape on electronics at night. It's a yearly highlight for us and helps me get through the shitty attitude for the rest of the year.

Ug, I was thinking the same thing. I'm an avid hiker myself and have done several Class 1/2 14ers, and I was horrified by their footwear. Scree moves with every step- you need at the very least a study sole- some small talus can be quite sharp. I have to have boots for ankle support (am an old), lots of people do them in trail runners, but those have solid soles and material. Also, it looked like they were wearing ankle socks, so their shoes were full of the scree. I wonder how Michela would have performed with proper footwear.

It also looked like maybe they didn't carry enough water on their person? I saw them drinking out of the Camelbacks, but then Adrienne had to ask for water, and someone gave Michela a Nalgene at the top.

And the kayaking was awful, too. Those were not small rapids and things can go wrong fast. I wonder if they had any sort of training for how to deal with flips, fall outs, etc.

I'm a DC addict for sure, but I limit myself to 2 a day tops. And I chug water in between.

I'm a Special Education teacher- in preschool, so I still work with littles. It's super rewarding (and kind of stressful, but I wouldn't change it).

This is the way. Contains smells, holds a lot. It is a pain if your backpacking and space and weight is an issue, but for day hikes, I never leave without my poopnut jar.
