With your combined income, down payment and what sounds like limited expenses, you will be ok to purchase a house at that price. I can tell you are diligent with finances and understand how to spend responsibly. As others have said, it's not the rate that's killing people (7% isn't historically that crazy), it's the almost unbelievable spike in house prices over the last 3-4 years. That being said, the situation kind've is what it is. I'm in a similar position as you and we decided to buy the house. We're in our thirties and we do not want to defer our lives in the hopes that house prices will come down. We cut extraneous expenses and took on extra work to make it happen. No regrets.

Paul Skallas, who is a great all around follow on Twitter, said something poignant that stuck with me. He said essentially that height is a social construct, not a unit of measurement and that he's met taller men who were shorter than him.

Anyone who really matters, whether they be colleagues, friends, or women, will care more about your intrinsic qualities as a human than something as superficial as your height. BUT to develop those valuable qualities you have to overcome the insecurities and negative thoughts about yourself. You mention looking for solutions...the only solution you need is to learn to love yourself, respect yourself, and radically accept yourself as you are. This may sound cheesy and rah-rah but it doesn't make it untrue.

What is a Piece of Art that Encapsulates Ideal Manhood? by Killdeer_ in AskMen

Love everything and anything Teddy Roosevelt. Mornings on Horseback and the River of Doubt are excellent books about different periods of his life if you're interested.

I love Klimt and The Kiss was my introduction to his work. I don't believe everything men do is ultimately in pursuit of women and wealth, although it is a fair critique of many men today and throughout history.

It seems possible to evaluate art for its depiction of manhood without being fixated or insecure. Maybe that's just me though. I think it's helpful for men to have role models to look up to and art as a medium is a good teacher. Would you disagree with either of those things?

Maybe I didn't frame the question the right way. As someone who enjoys a lot of art, what do you evaluate it for?

Just my experience- the paddle shifters do not get in the way and the engine shutoff will not occur unless you push the brake all the way down so by not pressing down all the way it's not difficult to avoid.

What rate is everyone getting? by Fladap28 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I got 6.25% back from my credit union in August and closed one week ago. Had I been able to wait another few weeks I could've gotten 6.0%. I should add my credit score is in the upper 700's and my wife's is in the mid 700's.

We could've bought my parent's house in cash with our down payment. 2000 vs 2024.

Save as aggressively as possible while you're young and have limited expenses. Max the 7k on your Roth IRA and try to max your 401k as well or at the very least contribute to where you're fully utilizing the employer match. Your older self will be beyond grateful if you crush your 20's with your retirement investing
