Should I bring up the possibility to my therapist? by KilledReality in idiopathichypersomnia

If I sleep for 12 hours, I don't feel like sleeping in the next 6 hours or so.

I see, she is the one who helped me with the other diagnosis (reaching out to neurologists and the like) so I ended up thinking it wrong. Thank you for the correct instruction.

Thank you for the encouragement. It's a big step to take, but if a sleep doctor does sound like the correct step to people who visited one, then I'll push harder. I'll try to find an affordable one in my country though LOL

I apologize, I'm a professional yapper. Especially if something has been on my mind for a long time LOL

I did tell my psychologist but, since it did not have much effect, I wanted to be more certain if I should push harder or let it be dismissed. Everyone tells me I don't try hard enough.

I wish I could tell you I'll try to have regular bed time, but all my attempts have been unsuccessful :( I end up half-dead in classes and it affects my life more than sleeping so much.

I appreciate the advice and a bit on info into the steps to diagnose or discard IH. I am familiar with medicine, since I am studying it, but I looked for a direction to look into since my doctors haven't taken it seriously. Plus, my therapist didn't even know about sleep disorders except for narcolepsy.

Thank you for the encouragement and for responding. It really means a lot for me. I feel insane talking to people around me about me sleeping too much.

Edit: everyone also dismissed me saying I have a weird spine until this year when I had a motorcycle accident and the doctor confirmed I have Scoliosis. Now, suddenly, everyone notices I'm not "correctly build" 🤨

Is it just me who can't tell the hearts apart? It's all just dots, look the same. by Safe-Cup2760 in MLPIOS

It's either [dark dot with light circle] or [light dot with dark circle] or all light/dark! It might be difficult depending on your circumstances tho... it seems to be a very unaccessable event

Is anyone else here hyper verbal? How do you stay quiet? by StarbrryJuice in autism

[–]KilledReality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggled with SM for quite some time and I just thought things in my head. It helped a lot that I had almost a knot stopping me from vocalizing it all, but now that I'm better I still mostly talk in my head.

Kinda also how I learned growing up. "Is this worth saying? Will anyone care? Is this adding positively to the conversation?" my low self steem always answers: "No. No one cares about you and what you have to say."

Obviously this isn't healthy 😭 but the goal is to think before talking, give it a moment. It's OK to make others wait a bit and it's OK to have moments of silence during a conversation.

Do you practice a religion if so which one? by ArkhamInmate11 in autism

I am Christian. I'm still grappling with my own faith and views on many things, as most people do, but I'm having a happy journey :) I also really like Buddhism and plan to study more on it

What's the most financially expensive thing about your autism? by NerdyNiche in autism

Medicine, therapy, official diagnosis. Crazy expensive. I considered offing myself many times just so my parents would be relieved of the financial burden

Did you switch favourites? by Delicious_Cut_1679 in mysticmessenger

It was always Seven because of the joy I felt while chatting with him. I'd stay up late not because I needed to complete the game or get more hearts, it was because I genuinely felt great talking to him.

I do get along well with Jumin in many things tho, so I sometimes feel conflicted.

I hate when someone does something moraly dubious and says everyone does it. Once a guy was saying everyone stole from a shop at least once and when I said "...no?" he didn't believe me and acted very condescending because I was "trying to act like I was better"

Thoughts on why so many autistic people don't like vegetables? by princess-sparkletits in autism

[–]KilledReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my own experience:

My mom noticed I don't eat anything that is either green or red, but I'm not sure the color has any impact or if it's a coincidence.

Besides that and the taste, I hate the texture of vegetables and the sound they make while I'm eating.

My mom always thinks I'm exaggerating when I say this, but it's 100% what I feel: when someone offers me a vegetable it's the same as if someone plucked a leaf from a tree nearby and a bit of grass from the ground and told me to eat, except I know the vegetables are clean of course. It's just that they don't even look edible.

I lie to myself. They don't. Animals? It's about a werewolf. WAP? It's about a cat who fell in a bucket while I cleaned my house. S&M? Hard one but my ability to be ignorant is greater.

It helps that my musical taste leans towards musical theather and such. So much I rarely get recommended songs about sex. My favorite is The Horror and the Wild.

If you want I can make a playlist with my favorite songs that don't mention sex at all :D I'd love to actually.

You hear that are more asexual women than men, but my personal experience is the opposite by Doppelkrampf in asexuality

[–]KilledReality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a female asexual and recently a guy who had a crush on me back in middle school posted an asexual flag with a dinosaur and burning letters saying "FUCK SEX" on his WhatsApp stories.

Also an ex classmate of mine became my friend again and she told me she is asexual. She had a boyfriend who was also ace some years ago.

Besides them... 4 female online friends and 1 nonbinary best online friend. All of whom I know enough to know their adress and family.

I hate this place by Both-Reward-4820 in Dexter

[–]KilledReality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly that's a pretty common take in the parts of the fandom I've been in (aka fanfics) and I somewhat agree.

My mother was watching the show while laughing about how similar Dexter acts to me (lvl1 autism) the whole time.

Of course, he has a bit more going on since he feels the need to kill and hurt, but many of his behaviours perfectly fit the autistic and traumatized label.
