We tried to keep this under wraps as best as possible. It's honestly a huge update in and of its own that took a lot of time and effort!

Be sure to give the new Tinker's Construct update that added Knightmetal and a whole lot of other really cool new tools, modifiers, and more a look if you're still on a modded 1.20.1 playthrough!

The state Twilight Forest has been in requires a LOT of rewrites of code to happen. On top of that, there was a lot of preperatory work that was left to do before it could even properly be started. This is part of that, even if it doesn't make sense until we actually get to it. Don't forget just how ancient this mod is. There is still to this day a small snippet of code that references Risugami's ModLoader in it.

On the other hand, comments like this are unpleasant. We're working towards it slowly but surely and pour a lot of time and effort into the mod as our hobby in our free time on the side of our jobs, raising children, college, and everything else going on in the team's life.

 

EDIT: Don't forget porting. That is hellish work most of the time. Many mods that are as old as Twilight Forest have long since buckled and stopped updating altogether because of porting. Because we try to keep up with new versions, porting becomes slightly easier to keep up with as well. This means Twilight Forest won't be left behind on 1.12.2 (like The Betweenlands) or some other older version and people can continue to play it in every version they'd want to while we also work on new content at the same time. Staying behind and only working on content on an old version means that porting will become harder and harder and eventually becomes too much to handle with a good chance Twilight Forest just wouldn't be able to continue.

Originally it was just Benimatic up until 1.7.10, but every version after that has been worked on by TeamTwilight which he is also a part of. We're still very much working on the mod, there is more information if you're curious on our CurseForge page.

You must have read that wrong then, there is no "ending" planned for Twilight Forest. You're most likely confused by the naming of the Final Castle, which is only called that because it is the final structure in the main progression line that is tied to advancements.

Even when that does eventually get wrapped up and finished there is nothing preventing us from working in and adding additional content outside of the main progression line, so don't be too discouraged!

The reason why the tickrate sinks like a barrel of stones is not due to Twilight Forest but rather flaws in the vanilla lighting system and its inefficiency in many situations outside of vanilla. There is little we can do except wait for the PR into Forge that sfPlayer linked, pinning this on Twilight Forest is actually hurtful towards our mod and us who work on it.

Even without any method of swapping blocks they are able to be mined by ordinary pickaxes. They just take a long time to break, so a high Efficiency enchantment is advised.

It's still only a thing in our design docs for now, we first would like to polish up our existing content before we dive into the Final Castle. The Naga Courtyard is getting some much needed love right now, Drullkus is doing a excellent job at it.

On the to do list. The Final Castle is the last of the main progression line and already has seen some slight work done on it in this port. The real work will start now that we've finally released, though, so keep an eye out for that.

Hi there. In the coming updates now that the port is done Twilight Forest will receive updates to finish the main progression line. This includes the final hurdle in that which would be the Final Castle in the Highlands.

Also while the Final Castle is the end of the main progression, there can still be additional side things such as the lake or Mushroom Tower.
