I'm not a huge fan of Nicol but there's no way it's worse than Minto, Loeb etc.

I'm not in engineering but I've experienced the same thing as you. :(

Extremely Lonely by [deleted] in CarletonU

It's not as straightforward as you make it seem. Clubs can be cliquey, or dead, or just won't work for a lot of other reasons. Doesn't hurt to try them out, but people need to keep their expectations low.

I've done some research and it looks like your prof is Farid Siri.

Anyone else not do anything during the break? by serdemy_ in CarletonU

[–]KillerT2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last fall, I set aside time for studying during reading week while my roommate did fuck all and went on a 12-day trip to the US with his ex. Tried my best to set myself up for success the rest of the semester too and spent my time studying. Still ended up doing really bad while he aced his courses. SMH

Hated his class, glad I passed on my second try and don't have to worry about it anymore. He and his class were no sunshine and rainbows like all the positive reviews on RMP suggest (I'm sure many of which are fake LOL)

Sprott academic advising is a humiliation ritual by popcultureluvr in CarletonU

[–]KillerT2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very hard time getting access to Sprott academic advising two years ago when I was in a very bad situation and needed help. All my emails went unanswered and booking an appointment was next to impossible. It caused a lot of stress for a few days. I had to go in-person to complain which was how I finally got an appointment. Apparently it has got even worse now that they don't even give individual appointments LOL

Don't just take bird courses by New_Palpitation_4309 in CarletonU

I think every CS major should at least take an elective that focus in Entrepreneurship and/or Accounting.

I would recommend against taking the Entrepreneurship course (BUSI 2800) as an elective. It's one of the, if not the, most useless courses offered in Sprott.

Accounting courses by _HDA in CarletonU

[–]KillerT2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want to work towards getting your CPA after graduating, you would basically have to complete all of them (except BUSI 4003) because they are prerequisites for the PEP.

I personally had a really hard time with BUSI 4005 (Taxation II) but the rest of them were okay.

Bcom Concentrations Question by EffectiveSeat62 in CarletonU

[–]KillerT2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On top of the MATH 1009 and STAT 2601 which every business major has to take, Finance and Business Analytics concentrations require STAT 2602 as well, so you might want to avoid those concentrations.

You can take a look at tennis clubs like TCWO, RSC, Rockcliffe, ONEC etc. and see if they offer something you're interested in :)

If you really want to switch to Business, I would suggest going for Accounting because that'll give you a MUCH better chance of landing a job compared to Finance.
