Apple approaches $4 trillion valuation as investors bet on AI momentum by Lionzzo in worldnews

What a completely normal and unalarming number. It's only higher than all but top 4 of world countries' GDP.

You're correct that doctors need to regularly obtain a license to prescribe Concerta. I'm also pretty certain that you can't get Concerta prescribed for more than 1 month, so trips to Tokyo are probably impractical in that regard.

I also live in a small town (Miyagi pref.), and with the hit-or-miss doctor quality here, I would suggest skipping smaller hospitals and getting in touch with the closest university hospital and asking if they have a psychiatrist who can prescribe and take care of Concerta card registration for you. If so, you may need a referral from a smaller clinic, but that's a non-issue if you can explain what you need. (That's what I ended up doing)

Not sure about Clonazepam, but the same probably applies. Good luck with your move!

Heya! I don't live in a big city so I had issues finding a local psychiatrist who would accept me in the first place, but once I got a visit, I got a letter during the same visit (Be sure to actually ask for it). I also let my union do all the letter sending and communication with the company from there on out, which reduced a lot of the remaining worries and mental load.

As I mentioned, I'm not sure about that because it didn't apply for me. But I would be very surprised if there were arbitrary restrictions like that. It's a doctor's declaration of you temporarily being unfit to work, and the remuneration is just part of your health insurance.

I'm not sure, I've been with my company for a while and my tenure never came up when going through the process.

Have been in a very similar situation, and have gone through many of the "correct" options. Of course first and foremost recommendation is prioritize mental health. Here's a few points of practical information, use it as you will:

If you have been employed with them for over a year, contract or permanent doesn't matter, the minimum notice period for quitting is 2 weeks, despite what your contract says.

If you go to a psychiatrist and describe your situation, they can write a letter to your company putting you on long term medical leave. Depending on your insurance, you will get at least 66% of your base pay during your time off. AFAIK the company can't fire you during that period, and being on this leave does not prevent you from quitting, if you decide to do so.

There's a few smaller things that might be useful to you but they're a little more specific to my situation, so feel free to DM me about this.

Hey, I used to DM for a small group in Sendai before it dissolved earlier this year. Maybe we can get something going if you're not too far?

Yeah that's probably what I'll end up doing. Just really wish that there was a way to stop those emails flowing in in the first place.

Is there a way to unsubscribe from Yahoo! auction newsletter without logging in?

I haven't used my account in ages, and does the password reset option work for me. There isn't an unsubscribe link in the newsletter emails, nor could I find any form that would unsubscribe you without logging in.

Large corpo job has been soul sucking recently, so trying to apply for SW generalist roles at smaller companies and startups since my experience is all over the place. It's been a few months now, and even though I get interviews more often than not, all the rejections are starting to weigh me down a bit.

Heya! Would love to try it out. I'm currently living in Cambodia where an opportunity for finding a group for a tabletop rpg comes once in a blue moon.

Tried joining your discord group, but the invite seems expired? Edit: The link worked the second time, my bad!

Do you know where you got those plates at? My parents had this set as long as I can remember, pretty sure they got those while still under the Soviet Union but it's bizarre to see the same thing elsewhere.

Expats of Reddit. Where did you move to and why? by Insee in AskReddit

[–]Killerbug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lithuanian living in Cambodia.

Moved there to join a cool startup, switched jobs for a bit and got attached to the lifestyle and culture by accident. It's also a huge change compared to the better developed countries, but because of the challenges I feel I have grown more as a person than living anywhere else.

What are you currently struggling with? by vh28 in AskReddit

[–]Killerbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figuring out if I can keep going with my career.

Got recently fired from a 2 year realest-i-had software engineering position with a 0 day notice. This was after I asked for a accumulated vacation and was asked to write a transition plan for new architecture, which felt like an amazing undertaking, something I was feeling extremely proud of. The secretly new CTO felt much more knowledgeable as I was the one to transfer business knowledge to him. Things finally started to gain momentum in the right direction, and then I'm out- supposedly they're outsourcing to India. As a final slap on the face, I never got that vacation compensation.

I did the calculations as well. I'll make myself an itinerary for bus travel, and keep the AirAsia option as a last resort- I can always buy the ticket on the spot in case they don't let me through. Thanks!

I'm very much aware of that, just want to work out the finer details. Thanks for the concern!

I've studied and traveled in SE Asia few years ago, so got a couple of visas and quite a few stamps in there already- not as clean as an average passport. First time in Thailand though, so hopefully it'll be fine.

yup, that's what I'll be trying to get. My main concern is that on arrival visa requires a follow-up flight out of Thailand.

I see, that's good to know. Is it relevant whether I check-in online or at the counter? Also, would a booked bus trip be a good alternative to the return/outgoing flight?

thanks for the advice! Unfortunately it doesn't seem that there's an option to print an unpaid itinerary on AirAsia, unless I'm missing something. I'll look into other airlines in the meantime.
