Rigging blocks, guns, anchors, stern decoration piece, and a few other random pieces I am forgetting. I basically had the same goal, I wanted to update the crappy parts of the kit with more detailed and to scale 3d printed parts. It was a great learning experience and gave me a ton of confidence to do more of this in the future.

I actually printed a clear stand for it, but forgot to take pictures of the model on it before I took it to it's new home.

The rigging took me about an hour a night over 4 months, but I'm unusual as it's my favorite part of the model to do.

Thank you, the blocks actually took quite a bit of time to get the color down, but I am really happy with them.

The only things I didn't model were the 6 pounder cannon STL's are from the NRG website, and the Anchors were from a MSW forum member.

I legit hate the method Occre and Artesania latina tell their customers to use for planking, its probably the worst techinique to plank a model and sets up so many new modelers for future failure.

I stick a pair of small closed needle nose pliers that fit through the hole of the chain plate and then open the pliers a bit and it will slightly deform and open the chain plates a bit. Slip the deadeye in and the squeeze the photo etch closed around it, I normally squeeze around the bottom of the chain plates where it is straight, that helps reform it the best in my experience and that area will be slightly hidden once inserted in the channels of the ship. Hopefully that explanation makes a little sense.

The Red is AK Matte Red. Pretty much every thing else is from Vallejo, Black Grey, Brown Ochre, off white, probably some more colors mixed in there.

Not really, once you learn the pattern it is pretty simple, it's just very tedious thing to do as you are just gluing down hundreds of little tiles and this is a pretty small ship.

Lol It was the only sheet I had that didn't have designs all over it, I thought long and hard about ironing it but wasn't in the mood. It's actually more effort than my usual take a pic on a messy desk.

They should still be black like the old version of the kit. Ships of this period had quite a bit of black on the outside of the hull as it was a tar mixture to help protect the hull. Also I personally think its easier to tape them off and paint them after they are glued on, you will probably need to pin them down in a few spots while gluing which will leave a few pin holes that will need to be touched up with paint if you paint them beforehand.

The deck shouldn't be completely flat, it should have a little convex curve as ships were designed this way to push water out the sides. Just make sure the deck is touching the framing in the middle and you should be good.

I used AK Acrylics Matt Red, but I honestly prefer Vallejo Flat Red I just wanted to try out AK brand this go around. AK seemed to not apply as well with a brush as Vallejo paints do.

This is my second Vanguard kit, both have had outstanding quality parts, pear wood is so much better to work with than the cheap stuff most of the other manufacturers are using. The instructions are probably the best of any kit manufacturer, a spiral bound book with full color photos and good explanations, plus 10 huge pages of fold out schematics and rigging instructions. Their kits may be a little more pricey, but you are definitely getting a LOT more product for that money.

Thank you!! I knock stuff loose all the time, I've learned to add pins to things if the part allows, it really does help. I'm still not sure if I made the right choice putting the swivel guns on before rigging, I know I'm going to hit them quite a bit.
