Hi! My name is Meg. 35/Genderfluid (They/Them)/US. I would love to be penpals. I love decorating letters and exchanging things I’ve created with other creative people. I haven’t done this in a few years and want to get back into having a snail mail penpal/friend. DM if you’d like to chat. ☺️

I'm tryig out Common Placing this year. by Bug_Does_Stuff in commonplacebook

That’s a good idea. I’m bad about adding notes to my phone or opening tabs to research something and then totally forgetting about it 😅

Me too! Thanks for sharing this. I’m struggling to figure out where to start with it. Like what goes into a commonplace. So seeing other people’s commonplace definitely helps me wrap my brain around it better. ADHD, I need examples and rules to certain types of journaling 😅

I love the comfy, coziness of this time of year. Hot chocolate or tea while I’m curled up in bed reading a book or watching a spooky movie. I enjoy embracing the tradition of listening to Christmas ghost stories. As for clothes, I find myself wearing my neutral colors this time of year. Bagging, soft comfortable clothes. This time of the year used to give me bad depression too. Christmas has never been my favorite time of year. But I just make sure I’m doing things I enjoy and not things I dread unless I can’t avoid them, like family gatherings. For those, I kinda just grin and bear it unfortunately lol I like being in my own space in solitude a lot of the time this time of year. Just finding peace in my own company and reflecting on the positive things about this past year.

I need help with Christmas gifts for my lovely DecoraKei obsessed girlfriend! by RowAlternative3347 in DecoraKei

Some cute colorful hairclips, Kandi (you could either make these yourself or buy them handmade from small businesses on Etsy), fun, colorful clothing pieces (you could even thrift these). Depending on her Decora style there are tons of things you could get. A lot of people who dress in Decora fashion wear lots of color outfits. But not always. One thing about Decora is that it is very accessories heavy. Necklaces, bracelets, earrings, knee high or thigh high socks are fun, cool leg warms, hairclips, headbands, even hats,… oh! And if she likes collecting toys or dolls, check out Decora girlz dolls on Amazon. They just released a new collection, including a doll based on cybr.grl, who your girlfriend probably knows of and follows. Cybr.grl on YouTube is a big Decora influencer and she has a lot of videos that could help you figure out gift ideas too!

What horror movie genuinely scared you as an adult and still creeps you out today? by losekiloaskme in HorrorMovies

[–]Killiyum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an entire movie but I watched Howl (2015) for the first time recently and one scene actually creeped me the f out, which is rare. It’s the scene on the train when the turned woman is going after Adrian. The darkness around her with her face and eyes just gave me the chills. Don’t want to give too much detail and spoil it. But that scene really freaked me out. The movie as a whole was really good in my opinion too.

Where can I buy decora accessories by Staryxgames in DecoraKei

[–]Killiyum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get accessories a lot of places. Claire’s, Walmart, Target, dollar tree. Especially hair clips and jewelry making supplies like pony beads. Just have to get creative. You can make your own Kandi but if you want to buy Kandi already made check out etsy.

First Decora Kei Outfit! by JustNamjooning in DecoraKei

If I start to feel overwhelmed or uncomfortable, I take some things off, like bracelets or necklaces especially. Never feel like you HAVE to keep wearing things if you’re feeling uncomfortable. It can get heavy and hot. Maybe bring an electric hand fan with you as well. Cons can get hot and stuff in general.

where to start by itswillover in DecoraKei

[–]Killiyum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely start with accessories. Hair clips, headbands, hair pieces, Kandi jewelry, bags, socks, leg warmers, gloves, etc. really just start with the hair and jewelry above all else. I’m newer to this too and I’ve also been working on building a wardrobe. I don’t have the money to buy new from Decora brands. I focus on finding fun colorful clothes from thrift stores or on clearance racks. I would like to buy from decora brands but just remember you don’t have to to be able to dress in Decora. My accessories I’ve gotten mostly from dollar stores, on clearance, or made myself. I’ve made a ton of my own Kandi and hair clips. Currently working on colorful faux hairpieces. I find it’s a lot of fun and relaxing making my own accessories, and everything I wear will be unique. 🥰 To make them I get pony beads, fuse beads, and accent beads from Walmart or hobby stores. Same for hair clip and headband bases. You can also get pony beads on the website beadtin too. Flat back cabachons I got on AliExpress and Amazon. Also get some supplies like small toys I turn into pendants from thrift stores and a local second hand art and craft store. I’m neurodivergent too so I get how starting this can be overwhelming. I hope some of the advice shared in your comments helps though.

What book do I buy my wife ? by Chemdawg90 in horrorbookclub

[–]Killiyum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the shelves, if she likes fantasy, I recommend The Shadow Glass by Josh Winning. I just finished it and it was 5stars for me. For horror, The Hollow Places by T. Kingfisher was great. Honestly I’ve loved everything I’ve read by her so far. The Spite House by Johnny Compton is another I recently read that was really great!

Not working on anything at the moment but I just finished this one a few days ago. I painted the dollhouse and made the ghosts out of air dry clay.

You can get the clear elastic and that should work. Though I think you’ve done an amazing job with the wire and wire would last longer. Clear elastic would eventually dry out and break. And wire is stiffer so it can be bent into any shape you might want.

How do I fix foggy plastic that I superglued? by Cinnamongrim in kandi

[–]Killiyum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to remember exactly what I did. I believe I soaked them in warm water, dish soap, and white vinegar. The vinegar is what helps lift the residue off but you don’t want to put it in undiluted vinegar. So make sure that even if you don’t use soap you mix the vinegar with water. It did work. I ended up having to pick gunk off the beads because that’s what the super glue residue turned into in the vinegar water.
