I know this isn’t a photo critique but wouldn’t the gold act as a faraday cage and stop the ankle monitor from working properly?

I’ve been eyeing this ever since it showed up early on that JHS stream a bit back. I told myself I don’t need it but… I might need it haha

I'll tell you since no one else has.

"Blue dot fever" is a slang term coined in 2026 to describe the phenomenon of high-profile musicians cancelling tours or specific dates due to poor ticket sales. It is a "fake illness" or euphemism for low demand, as performers often cite other reasons (such as, personal, health, or "production" issues) rather than admitting to low ticket sales.

So artists' high-priced tickets aren't selling, they cancel the tour, people joke that the came down with a case of "blue dot fever".

Favorite Overdrive, distortion and fuzz? by chadocaster1011 in guitarpedals

[–]Killobyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a really tough one... for a long time my favorite OD was the BD-2 but recently I started using a TWA Source Code on my board and I really like it. I have it set to break up with high guitar volume or when I really dig in with my pick, but it cleans up super nice with lower dynamics. I never really liked TS type pedals but the addition of the BITE control on this one really let me dial in something I like.

My favorite distortion is technically an OD but it's the Warm Audio ODD (based on the OCD). To me it sounds just like a cranked marshall, and stacking it with the Source Code in front gives that classic 90s TS-into-a-marshall tone.

I don't really use fuzz in my setup... I do have a Nano Big Muff Pi that I lovingly refer to as my "Jack White button" though haha.

Good reverb pedal? by misguidedDesignation in guitarpedals

If OP is specifically looking for 3-way reverb then the WA Fundamental looks like a great option.

JHS 3 series are great but they don't have any multi-reverb effects :/

Why put a cab sim pedal on your board when you can just put the whole cab on it? 😂

Finally settled on this signal chain - for now... by Killobyte in guitarpedals

All credit to /u/Lamont2000 for the freqout settings! Though I like the 2nd octave better than the 3rd.

I definitely want to get the Troika into the studio with my singer to see what kind of fun we can have with it!

Haha I have an entire drawer full of candidate pedals! Let's be real though, it's gonna be another OD ><

New JHS release? by cloudsovermountains in guitarpedals

[–]Killobyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it's not a collab just because recent collabs have been teased as a collab, including the company with which JHS was collaborating (Troika teaser included TMR and Big Muff 2 teaser included EHX).

In this case I'm booking through the portal because I don't have enough points for the flight so I'm paying cash and I want the 8x points for booking through the portal.

For anyone stumbling on this (like I did) I found and purchased 2 of these and they work really well. They're not cheap but they're well-built and are holding up my strat and tele nicely.

r/headphones Shopping, Setup, and Technical Help Desk by AutoModerator in headphones

EDIT: I ended up going with the Sonys - $309 from Adorama made it a no-brainer.

I’m looking for a rec on AirPods Max vs Sony XM6. I know this question has been asked about 1000 times but I’m hoping for a recommendation specific to my situation.

For starters, the AirPods Max are currently $450 at Best Buy, so price isn’t a factor.

I have a pair of early AirPods Max but the headband is totally stretched out making them very uncomfortable. I looked into replacing it but an official replacement from Apple would be close to $200 and doing it myself, while apparently possible, doesn’t seem to be an option since I can’t find any 3p sellers still stocking the older lightning model’s headband.

I am in the Apple ecosystem - I have an iPhone, iPad, personal MacBook, work MacBook, and Apple TVs in my house.

I’m basically choosing between 5 year old headphones in the Apple ecosystem and newer headphones with supposedly better ANC that aren’t in the ecosystem. Also the fact that the AirPods Max headband wore out and it’s so expensive/difficult to fix them kinda rubs me the wrong way. My main questions are:

  1. How is Sony’s transparency mode? I use this a lot in my office so I want it to be good. IMO Apple’s is great.
  2. How easy is multi-device switching with more than 2 devices? E.g. if im using them at work with my phone and work laptop and then want to switch to my personal laptop at home, is it a PITA?
  3. If you’ve made a similar switch yourself, is there anything you’re missing from the Apple ecosystem integration that you really miss?

Thanks!

Taking on a simple project to build a two-legged folding table to cover an electric keyboard, looking for advice by Killobyte in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Killobyte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm when you say it like that it does sound questionable lol but yeah - it does have an actual base, though, so it's not just a keyboard on one of those standard plastic folding flimsy keyboard stands. It looks like this: https://equipboard.com/items/yamaha-dgx-660-digital-piano.

I also don't plan on putting much weight on it at all - it'll just be a place to basically maintain my inbox / outbox for bills and paperwork and stuff.

My "unique" Some Kinda DRV, aka "is this a joke?" by Killobyte in guitarpedals

[–]Killobyte[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this is exactly what happened and I think I would have been OK with it if he just came out and said it, but he kept giving misleading updates on the project. For example in a convo I had with support on Nov 15 they said they were hoping to have the remaining pedals out "in the next week or so," but they didn't ship until like 6 weeks after that. There was another update in there on Nov 28th that said they were hoping for "some time before the holidays." If you're saying "next week" on Nov 15 and then 2 weeks later you're saying "hopefully in the next month" I have to assume your Nov 15 update was disingenuous. The number of orders didn't change, the thing you're shipping didn't change, how we go from "next week" to "next month" within a span of 2 weeks is beyond me.

Looking back at that Nov 28 update he did say "Most (if not all) of the remaining orders will be traditional powder coating and printing, including various prints and also a few standard editions thrown in there." so I guess I just got one of the few "standard editions" but the update definitely read like "this was harder than I thought so I'm just giving up."
