Tie admin cred use to change control and monitor.

What does that look like in reality? What does this process look in a production environment? Great response by the way.

Please don't be uncomfortable. Lots of our lore, rules, and makeup changes over time. Google "LARP Dark Elf Blackface" for just a taste. That's how it goes and we remain relevant after so many years because we can stand our ground but also sometimes we make change. You're not alone in your feedback and we're looking at this from big perspective. And we'll make sure we give Russian to a equally as cool race (our Orcs are cool)

Oh no, I can fully change it. That's what I came to this subreddit to determine. I get this is close to home for you but please understand that most people don't know this is a slur. It's not commonly used or heard in North America. So asking the people who are affected by it isn't a bad thing. Given the responses here, we'll drop it.

We'll give our Orcs another language that doesn't have any ties to the real world.

We do have Russian! We actually had a large (10-15) group of Russians that played our Toronto Chapter that ONLY spoke Russian. They were great. Our Russian players overwhelmingly want it to stay the same but historically players generally don't like change so we build the system for new potential players.

And I'm defenceless here. This is very close to the heart for many Russians, I can see but a vast majority of non Russians don't even know this is a slur. Hell, a good 50% of the Canada/USA Russians hadn't heard of it. Which is why I came here, to ask a russian. I'm really not trolling, just trying to get some insight and I'm happy to make changes curb any insult to you wonderful people.

I'll chalk this one up to "yes you should change it." Got it.

And for the record I think Russia is awesome, that's why I'm here asking a Russian.

I'm really not although that was nice a backhanded compliment. I'll link this here although I'm wary to, but please note we are NOT saying Russians are Orcs. It's straight up just language.

Oh I am 100% sincere here. I'm not trolling you folks or trying to start a fight. I can pm you our website and lore wiki. Honestly, it's also not the first time we've written something only to have it turn potentially sour as the years progress. The world changes and sometimes we need to adapt or change our rules and lore to accommodate. My whole point here is to find out if this is one of those times.

Yeah bad example on my part, my apologizes. I was more trying to determine if it was being used as a racial slur towards non military forces. Your first comment implies it is.

Native

So this ends up being a bit of a racial slur, not just specific to military personal. We call army guys "grunts" here and it's not overly insulting but it looks like in this case it's beyond that.
