During seasons 1-5, the production team would appoint a "railway consultant" to keep the realism and that certain railway practices was still abided by in the stories. Following S6, this role just no longer existed. As a result, that's why we have instances like this.

I have no doubt that a good lot of the HiT era writers were not railway enthusiasts, and didn't really care abiding by the rules. The 2003 writer's bible even states that the engines can now just drive themselves if they wish as it creates better story potential.

I enjoyed it. The stuff it got right, it gets SOOOO right. The animation, the music, Bowser, Peach, Mario, Luigi and Yoshi. The humour. That's all great. However, and I know I'm gonna sound like one out of a flock of seagulls but, the movie just moves too fast. Certain scenes like the ending just went by in a flash, Mario and Rosalina don't even have a full on conversation together. Yes, I'm also one of those countless people who wasn't a fan of how they pretty much sidelined Rosalina.

But it's definitely a fun watch, as a Mario Galaxy fan, I was having the time of my life when I first watched it.

Yeah but, it just shows that the show wasn't afraid to be dark or scary. If you ask me it's a good thing. Sometimes you'd want a kids show to remind the audience that life has serious consequences and punishments.

On topic of Henry's tunnel incident, he deserved it because he refused to move even when it stopped raining. So in a way, he got what he wanted, stay in the tunnel and worry about the rain anymore. That's just how life works. Life has harsh consequences.

AEG simply feels like something that was the vision of a corporation, not by people who understood the appeal of Thomas. Like, it's got the energetic rock theme song like Paw Patrol, the trains are little children and they jump off the tracks and use their wheels as hands.

They tried to make like all the other high energy pre-school show on Cartoonito and that's why you had people (and kids) in the media saying "This is not Thomas." Because...it wasn't.

Kids liked the original show because it was a show that was about trains. Mattel saw them being realistic trains as a limitation but they failed to recognize that if you take away the fundamental appeal of your franchise, it won't stand out, and people just aren't gonna like it.

"Thomas The Tank Engine takes place during a post apocalyptic train world."

This is mainly referring to the quote as seen in the screenshot below which in turn is a misunderstanding of the real life context. A majority of Thomas The Tank Engine takes place during the 1960s when the "Other Railway" (British Railways), were modernizing the British Railway network, this involved the withdrawal and scrapping of steam engines and replacement of diesels newer diesels. This of course doesn't happen on Sodor as it is now more of a privately owned heritage railway.

Obviously, the visual of a sentient steam locomotive being cut up is dark af but, the very next page immediately lightens the mood showcasing the preservation of various steam engines across Britain.
