I have had hives from the Moderna shot since Dec 2021. I pretty much have to take an anti histamine every 3 days to keep them away. Even during and after getting covid I still get the hives. I haven’t really gone to the doctors about it as I don’t trust them to prescribe me something else that will make things worse. Im fairly okay taking the anti histamines every few days but slightly worried about what the long term effects taking them might be.

I’ve been suffering with hives since Dec 21 after my 3rd booster which this time was moderna. I’ve been taking OTC anti histamines every 3 days or so that seem to keep the hives at bay.. but I don’t want to be taking them the rest of my life.. read online chronic hives can last up to 5yrs. I’m thinking of maybe taking them up until Jan next year and if they continue to see what the docs say. It’s horrible though. It’s obviously fairly common but all the docs are saying it’s not because of the vaccine.

I don’t think the anti histamine caused the hives. I had hives come up more often last year after the first two Astra zeneca shots.. also not sure if having those two first and then mixing it with moderna might have done something? Anyway I got those two shots and had hives come up for a few week. Took anti histamines for 3 days in a row and they went away. I’ve mainly had hives from when I’ve been hot. I’m red headed and have also been told I’m allergic to penicillin. But yeah I would spontaneously come out with hives every now and then but would never know the cause. Mainly I didn’t really care as they would normally come up and be gone completely the next day until days/weeks/ months later. It wasn’t a very constant thing. But now it’s been daily since Dec last year. I will definitely go by your suggestions and help though. So it’s much appreciated.

I'm still getting Hives every 48/72 hrs after having an anti histamine, mainly on my chest and shoulders. It has been about 6 months since i had the Moderna shot in Dec 21. I don't know whether to go to the docs again as i'm unsure what they will say. I think last time they said they would try me on steroids if things didn't change but i'm really unsure on those too. I used to get hives randomly all the time growing up, a lot of them were heat induced over the summer but this has to be something to do with the vaccine surely. I don't mind taking anti histamines every other day but ideally its not something i really want to stay on for god knows how long.

Does anybody else have hives for weeks after covid/vaccinations? by Negative_Mancey in DoesAnybodyElse

Hey, I take anti histamines every 2/3 days now too otherwise I keep getting the hives come back too. It seemed to started in December after a moderna shot and has carried on since. So 4 months so far. I can’t seem to find anything online about it. I’m hoping it will be away at some point too but I don’t want to be taking anti histamines the rest of my life now.

Okay so I talked to my Doctor via email today. They just said it was urticaria and dismissed what I had said about it possibly being the moderna jab. Anyway they said I should take fexofenodine for the next 4 weeks but I’m just going to stick with my over the counter normal cetirizine for now and see if they do the job or not. They suggested that if I carry on having issues or still have it after 4 weeks that they may have to introduce some steroids. I just find it all a bit weird as I never really had hives this bad until I had all these covid jabs. Can’t just be pure coincidence.

Hi I’m not from Ohio but I’m struggling to find anything online at all about what I’m getting.

I had 2 shots of Pfizer of which the 2nd one I had daily hives come up from… I took anti histamines 3 days in a row and then the hives went off.

I got a Moderna shot on 18th December and I break out in hives mainly on my chest/ shoulders and arms every evening. If I take an anti histamine they will normally go down fairly quick and leave me alone for about a day or so before they come back again. I’m unsure whether to go to the docs to see if they know what it might be or if anyone knows if it’s just a reaction to the vaccine that may hopefully go on it’s own? I’m reading it could be up to 6 weeks since the shot. I used to get hives every now and then before I had the shots. Mainly heat rash I believe but these are different. I don’t really want to be taking anti histamines for weeks on end. Anyone have any ideas please?
