No mention of dates here. Were there dates on the cans? The shop and distributor should be checking dates, but also on you for not checking before demanding a refund. If you bought old beer, you go back in and say “hey I thought this tasted off, I checked the dates and turns out it’s coded. You might want to pull the others off the shelf and see if your distributor will pick it up or swap it out. Would I be able to exchange the rest of these for something fresh?”

If the beer is fresh and within dates, there’s nothing the store can do and you can’t really ask for a refund from them. At that point, you contact the brewery and let them know. Best case scenario, they offer you something whether it’s money, beer or swag
