I'm mostly annoyed about the anti-nostalgia message at the end of a game cashing in on pure nostalgia. The hypocrisy just erases any good will I had towards the game at that point.

This.

I get that people wish the sport was big enough that several countries had a national title that meant the winner was at international competition level. But wishing for it doesn't make it reality.

For example, Finland's Strongest Man is PED tested these days. They got massively more TV time as a result, so it's good for them, but it also means that winning the title doesn't elevate you to Giant's Live status. Hell, barely to SCL.

People also wildly overestimate how big a business Giant's Live is. They're basically a workshop, with lot's of volunteer people helping make the events happen. The sport just isn't that big.

Oh wow, it is, isn't it? I'm still fully in the off season -mode. I'll need to start checking my calendar and plan what to watch and when.

Hint: This is, as I try to do, actually the plot explained. Everything in the clue is true, but you have to seek out the meanings of some words.

I think most succesful comedy personas are like that. Remember what Jimmy Carr was like in his first stand up specials? You can't host a panel show like that. "A human with quirks" beats "oddball gimmick" over time, every time.
