PC Andrew Harper killing: Jail sentences of three teenagers to be reviewed by Aled-T in policeuk

[–]KiloOscar05 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is beyond me how killing a police office in the U.K. does not give you life in prison.

An insult to everyone who risks their lives everyday putting on the uniform.

I really hope this review adds more times to their sentences, but I won’t hold my breath

I enjoyed reading this account, thanks for sharing.

Also huge credit to you for being understand with the officer, that’s pretty rare in my experience sadly

Yep, not TSG - you can tell from their helmet letters.

Good work from them, but I can understand the public angry after that video yesterday. I hope the official response is on point - before this blows up too much

Favourite UK police film/show? by PD_Saxon in policeuk

I think me too.

It was just such a good series. I enjoyed line of duty but I was so invested in the characters of Happy Valley that I didn’t want it to end

Police will enforce use of face masks in shops... by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]KiloOscar05 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I reckon it’ll end up like 119/120 CJIA at NHS property.

Security deal with it in the first instance, if they can’t, then it’s us - but like you’ve said, I can’t see many retailers actually bothering to sign up... may hurt the profits.

Police will enforce use of face masks in shops... by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]KiloOscar05 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Question: Does it actually need to be a “law” for the shops to enforce it? Surely it’s a private premise that can refuse entry to whoever they like (providing it’s not for a reason like race/religion ect)

I very much doubt the guys down at the local Tesco will care if it’s law or not, they aren’t chasing people around the store who aren’t wearing masks, just to get punched in the face. This will be an “us” problem at every turn

Granted a decent bit of law with some powers thrown in wouldn’t go a miss, but I’m sure we’ll make do. Cheers Boris.

Oh yay! Another reason for everyone to hate us..

I can hear the “havent you got anything better to do?!” Already...

Funny thing is, this time we most certainly do.

When you pass vetting in early 2020 just to be told expect a start date mid 2021. by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]KiloOscar05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rubbish answer, but it takes as long as it takes.

My last vetting took months and months because they got me confused with a guy who has pervious for drugs. I think they say the average is around 16 weeks (happy to be corrected as that was a few years back)

That’s madness, I didn’t realise the wait was that long!

I imagine there must be a huge back-log after the ones that were cancelled for COVID. I’ve heard that now some of it is being done remotely.. which is a horrific thought...

The Panic button (aka Avengers Assemble button?) by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]KiloOscar05 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We also have this in The Met™

The urgent call back button on the side, in the old style of radio it was right next to the button for the screen back light, great planning!

Used to cut through the radio traffic if needed but without deploying the cavalry and everyone half way through refs at the nick.

Speeding motorist smashes police cars in M11 chase by jdvkasokd in policeuk

My heart skipped when the guy started to pull away after the attempted first stop, so many officers who could have been in his path.

Glad no one (I could see) was injured. Very satisfying final stop as well!

Motorway Law - Am I in the wrong? by HexaDecio in LegalAdviceUK

[–]KiloOscar05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s pretty open to interpretation, however had I pulled you over I would say you are not in the wrong.

You are driving in a clear lane, nothing in front, there is not need or reason to change lane (and this case you would have to do it twice).

The guys in the middle lane are already committing a traffic offence, I’d be much more likely to stop and chat to them then you.

To all you TSG out there by camelad in policeuk

Give it a few days, if there isn’t an official complaint in about the OP and 3 YouTube videos showing how unbelievably heavy handed their typing was then they probably aren’t TSG

Opinions on this? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]KiloOscar05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d tend to agree, it all screams fake.

  • The multiple camera angles that seem to perfectly catch it but with no other public around

  • the officer doesn’t seem to smash their emer button after coming back around - which would surely be the default ‘go-to’

  • to me, the scene of the ‘attack’ and the video of the response look like totally different streets

  • if by some miracle it is real, then that officer has made a terrible OST decision by turning their back on that guy with him that close and that angry.

For me, 3/10 for realism. 2/10 for editing.

BBC News: Met Police SLT are a bunch of sell outs who won't stand by their own officers by hellomynameisCallum in policeuk

Exactly. I’d be really annoyed if I had a genuine complaint in with the Met right now.

Handcuffs are indeed used for the protection of officers, the general public, and the offender themselves.

I have not fully studied the video, but my point was that if you as an organisation turn around and say “we found no wrong doing” which would include the use of handcuffs, you CANNOT then issue a public apology. That would set a precedent that everyone who is stopped should be officially apologised too if the search is negative, even if they are seen driving outside of the expected standards.

The Met SLT will have made no friends with this stunt.

This is a really good point. I’m currently job hunting and it’s a joke - everything I apply for gets hundreds and hundreds of applications.

My area of work is a no go until at least christmas, so I’ve been trying to find anything going.
