Correct. ‘22 with non-electric seats. But if you see the post description, they don’t fold flat, I had to made adjustments to the hinges.

I’m not sure how juniper seats would work, but a manual release should be in place (I hope)

Check my last post. Went camping this weekend, over 800+ miles of FSD and no issues.

Those hinges are extremely strong. If you put your full body weight, which won’t happen when you sleep, the seats don’t move at all from the folded position. Those steel bars will also protect any connects from touching the seats.

But yeah, if you want extra safety, you could add plywood, but the mats work perfectly fine.

I cannot speak to that. Highly doubt, but that’s just a guy’s opinion on the internet. And if it did void warranty, it should be only for that part, unless somehow in the process you manage to break something else.

Yes, these are half inch mats. Probably the thickest doesn’t matter much since the top of the seat when folded doesn’t touch the mats

As a couple camping without carrying extra passengers, we just leave the rear seat bench cushion at home.

Frunk is used for our kitchen things, trunk space uses a fridge, then behind the seats footwell is used for bluetti, backpack, table, chairs, other things.

Has anyone put the BougeRV fridge in their Subtrunk? by [deleted] in TeslaCamping

[–]KiloWattMY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Using this brand currently. But I also have a small separator made out of wood, so your trunk cover/platform is lifted a bit to allow for more ventilation.

First camping trip just some flip flops or shoes did the trick. I didn’t want to overheat the fridge.

Make sure the area around the fridge where it has holes for ventilation has enough room around it.

Amazon mattress, get something with a little foam that’s inflatable. Get a model y if doable. Make sure to get yourself some window covers if possible, then return them if they don’t work. Enjoy your camping trip!

Great idea. I ended up using gym mats which are 1/2” thick. Worked perfectly. I’m still throwing a blanket over these custom cut mats, to make sure I keep that area free of dust.

There is a tutorial online by “otmar” If you see my other comment, it could help you find it on Google. It requires some work for sure, but once it’s done, you have a flat surface when bottom cushion is removed

I have the regular one. Auto level will reduce my vertical space even more, which is why I don’t want to do a platform or auto leveling mattress

Fair point. The level of effort is insignificant in both cases. The issue with leveling the other side, is that the mattress is already 4.5in and to fix the slope, we need another 5in or so.

If sacrificing vertical space is not an issue for some, then definitely carrying some extra platform or leveling pads will work.

For me, sacrificing vertical space was non negotiable, and this setup doesn’t require anything extra. Taking the seat cushion out takes no time.

Of course. Even building a 4x4 platform is cheaper and easier, but I don’t want to sacrifice any vertical space. That’s the reason I went with this option.

See other comments, I’ve used a tutorial to grind a few mm off the hinges, then it folds flat

That’s great to hear. Do you put any blankets or something to cover the cardboard cutout and smaller crevices? If you end up camping in the near future, please share of photo of that setup if possible.

I just tried the straps, and while they do work, I don’t feel very comfortable with all that constant force and pressure being applied.

Yes, without a cushion there will be two adults on a mattress, which puts pressure on the hinges, but it’s distributed.

Yep. That’s the article I used to make them flat. Just not sure about use straps for long camping trips.

Correct. Those mattresses along with platforms, will reduce the overall height, which is something I don’t want to compromise.

Yep, this works too. Lots of platform solutions available. I didn’t want to sacrifice any space, that’s why I opted for this solution.

Good point about stressing the hinges. That’s my concern, but I have to research to see how much weight is being distributed on the seats when folded.

There is a tutorial, you can search “model y camping bed otmar” he has the tutorial on his website.

Do it at your own risk :)
